Blades struggling on home ice.

The Blades right now they can not win on home ice.  They have only 15 points and they sit in the east division basement. It will be hard for this team to win games when they count on the top line to do all the scoring. The Blades also lack size.

Saskatoon takes on Moose Jaw on Wednesday and the Brandon Wheat Kings pay a visit on Friday!  Side note  the Saskatchewan Rush have a pre season game here on Saturday. Champions cup rematch. I am excited for that.

Another long offseason

The Blades were close to making the Playoffs but did not make the cut.  So the focus shifts to the WHL draft.

The Blades will have the 5th overall selection and the 10th overall selection acquired in trade.

It will be interesting to see what the team looks like.

Yours truely will probably get a sneak peak at next year. At a Season Ticket Holder BBQ in May.

I am excited for next season already!

Blades Playoff hopes slipping.

They went 0-3 on the road trip this weekend. Playoffs are looking like a dream at this point. At least the Saskatchewan Rush will fill Sask Tel Centre for playoffs. When they clinch. Go Rush Go.

Saskatoon Falls to Kootenay.

In the 2nd half of the season. Some teams may be fighting for their playoff lives. The Saskatoon Blades are one of those teams.

The Blades kicked off their 3 game road trip. Saskatoon scored first.  They ended up losing 3-2. Two more games this weekend.  Lethbridge and Calgary before returning home to play the Regina Pats on Wednesday.

Blades lose to Silvertips.

I am always excited when the US division teams come to Saskatoon.   A very good team and awesome uniforms.

Brock Hamm got the start VS Carter Hart.

Kirby Dach scored first for the Blades.  Then the Tips tied the game.  The Blades sent out their best shooters.  Everett's shooters were better.  Blades lose 2-1. Blades play 3 games on the road. Lethbridge. Calgary and Kootenay.  A crutial road trip.

Saskatoon is 3 points ahead of Calgary for the final playoff spot.  Hey they would be the underdog Verses the Regina Pats.

Look at the LA Kings 8th place team one season and they won the Stanley Cup that year.  I am not saying the Blades will do that but it is fun to think about and dream.

Enjoy these photos.

2 Wins This Weekend.

Saskatoon faced the Brandon Wheat Kings last night. Logan Flodell was given the start in goal again. As expected it was a close game. The Blades managed the OT win. Jesse Shynkaruk scored the winner on Ukrainian night.

The Blades still hold an 8 point cushion for that playoff spot. They are also battling injuries. Every team has to do this.  A break will do them good!!

Kirby Dach.

He was allowed to play for the Blades because of the injuries that Saskatoon has and his club team is done?? He did not let the fans down. WOW. He scored a top shelf goal and a puck through the legs goal for his 2nd of the season. He is a player to watch. He was also named 1st star of the game!!

The Blades beat Moose Jaw 4-2. Saskatoon faces the Brandon Wheat Kings tomorrow night. Kirby Dach. Round #2!!  Get excited!!

Winning streak snapped.

The Blades lost in Moose Jaw on Friday and also to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday.

Saakatoon will host the Regina Pats on Monday at 11:30 AM. A game where they bring elementary school kids and move the Season ticket holders to a upper level section.

The Blades are already loosing money and then they do a game like this.  Pretty soon they will have no fans left. Then what??

Blades Playoff bound??

The Saskatoon Blades are winners of 5 straight hockey games. Including a win VS Swift Current Broncos. 6-3.

The Blades will travel to Moose Jaw on Friday to face the Warriors. Then return home to face Lethbridge on Saturday night in Saskatoon.  Hopefully this is only the start of success for the Blades in 2017!

Saskatoon wins 2 games.

The Blades played the Calgary Hitmen. A crutial game because they are in a race with the Hitmen for a playoff spot.  This game was a close game. The home town Blades won it in Overtime.

Last night Saskatoon faced a Red Deer Rebels team who at the trade deadline traded away assets for draft picks.  Despite the small crowd. The Blades grinded it out for 60 minutes. Nice to see 4 different goal scorers!  They came away with the win. 3 more crutial home games for the Blades coming up.

It will not be easy. Nothing ever is in life though.  It would be nice to see Saskatoon make the playoffs. Maybe Mason MCarty will return to the line up soon??

Blades lose 2.

Friday night the Saskatoon Blades played Moose Jaw. They lost 4-0.  Saturday night they returned to Saskatoon and took on the Tri City Americans.  They also came up short losing 2-0. The Blades next game is on Tuesday against the Calgary Hitmen. The WHL trade deadline is on Tuesday. I think that the Blades are done trading.

This probably means another season of no playoffs.

The owner of the Saskatchewan Rush is interested in buying the team.  The Blades said the team is not for sale.  Well when the Blades have no fans left. Then they might have to sell.

Blades looking to make playoffs.

The 2nd half of the WHL season is underway.

The Blades played a close game against Swift Current on Sunday. Loosing in Overtime.  Skating with the Blades after was fun. Saskatoon Played the Weat Kings in Brandon. They won that game.  4-2

The Blades play 2 more games this week.

Enjoy these pictures.

Blades lose 2..

Saskatoon faced the Brandon Wheat Kings in a home and home series. They lost both games.  Each close games in terms of score.

Now the WHL has their Christmas break. So on behalf of myself. I hope all fans of the WHL have a safe and merry Christmas.

The Blades return to action with a hone and home on Dec 27th in Prince Albert.

Maybe Santa will be good to the Blades this year?? Haha.

Blades lose in Overtime. Trade Sloboshan and Reid to Spokane.

So the Saskatoon Blades played another hockey game tonight. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead... Oh that was great.... WRONG. The Oil Kings scored 2 goals to tie it.

The Oil Kings peppered 46 shots at the Blades net. The Oil Kings scored 11 seconds into Overtime.   The mini win streak is over.
There was a trade rumoured between Spokane and Saskatoon. It happened. Blades trade Wyatt Sloboshan,Nolan Reid and a 3rd round pick to Spokane Chiefs for F Markson Bechtold and local product Evan Fiala. We will see if this trade helps the Blades reach the playoffs.

The Blades have put Kolten Olynek on Waivers.  They had too when Fiala was brought in.

I hope this trade makes the Blades a tougher team to play against. Bringing in 2 tough hard working players. From what I hear of US Division fans.

Blades win twice.

Saskatoon played the Regina Pats on the road and came away with a 2-1 win in Overtime.

Tonight Verses the Warriors was also a tough game but the Blades kept their stick on the ice. The undersized Blades skated away with a 4-3 win. A very good hockey game Brock Hamm and company played well.

Saskatoon's next home game is on Wednesday VS the Edmonton Oil Kings. Whom the Blades trail in the playoff race.

Saturday, December 10, 2016

Blades lose to Hitmen. Hajek off to WJR Camp.

On Wednesday the Blades and Hitmen hit the ice.  Saskatoon Jumped out to a 2-0 lead. After a Calgary Hitmen timeout. That seemed to get them on the right track. They scored 2 goals to tie the game.

The final score was 4-3 for the Hitmen.

Saskatoon travels to Regina to face the Pats tonight. Regina is one of the top teams in the CHL.  The Blades will lose Libor Hajek to the WJR selection camp of team Czech Republic. Saskatoon plays Moose Jaw on Sunday at 4 PM.

I think 1 win out of 2 games is fair this weekend.
