Blades Split home and home.

After the Christmas break the WHL season resumed.  The Blades lost an 8 goal afair. To the Raiders. 5-3.

The next night in Saskatoon the rematch.  The Blades started strong. Scoring 2 times. The final score was 3-2.

The Blades travel to Swift Current on Friday. Then the two teams will play on New Years Day in Saskatoon.

Blades lose 2..

Saskatoon faced the Brandon Wheat Kings in a home and home series. They lost both games.  Each close games in terms of score.

Now the WHL has their Christmas break. So on behalf of myself. I hope all fans of the WHL have a safe and merry Christmas.

The Blades return to action with a hone and home on Dec 27th in Prince Albert.

Maybe Santa will be good to the Blades this year?? Haha.

Blades lose in Overtime. Trade Sloboshan and Reid to Spokane.

So the Saskatoon Blades played another hockey game tonight. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead... Oh that was great.... WRONG. The Oil Kings scored 2 goals to tie it.

The Oil Kings peppered 46 shots at the Blades net. The Oil Kings scored 11 seconds into Overtime.   The mini win streak is over.
There was a trade rumoured between Spokane and Saskatoon. It happened. Blades trade Wyatt Sloboshan,Nolan Reid and a 3rd round pick to Spokane Chiefs for F Markson Bechtold and local product Evan Fiala. We will see if this trade helps the Blades reach the playoffs.

The Blades have put Kolten Olynek on Waivers.  They had too when Fiala was brought in.

I hope this trade makes the Blades a tougher team to play against. Bringing in 2 tough hard working players. From what I hear of US Division fans.

Blades win twice.

Saskatoon played the Regina Pats on the road and came away with a 2-1 win in Overtime.

Tonight Verses the Warriors was also a tough game but the Blades kept their stick on the ice. The undersized Blades skated away with a 4-3 win. A very good hockey game Brock Hamm and company played well.

Saskatoon's next home game is on Wednesday VS the Edmonton Oil Kings. Whom the Blades trail in the playoff race.

Blades lose to Hitmen. Hajek off to WJR Camp.

On Wednesday the Blades and Hitmen hit the ice.  Saskatoon Jumped out to a 2-0 lead. After a Calgary Hitmen timeout. That seemed to get them on the right track. They scored 2 goals to tie the game.

The final score was 4-3 for the Hitmen.

Saskatoon travels to Regina to face the Pats tonight. Regina is one of the top teams in the CHL.  The Blades will lose Libor Hajek to the WJR selection camp of team Czech Republic. Saskatoon plays Moose Jaw on Sunday at 4 PM.

I think 1 win out of 2 games is fair this weekend.

Monday, December 5, 2016

Saskatoon trades a goalie to Everett.

The Blades traded 1999 born goalie Dorrin Luding to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a 2019 6th round pick.  This move does not make sense to me.

Blades lose 2 in Alberta.

Saskatoon had a 3-1 lead at one point in Red Deer. They ended up losing 4-3 in Overtime.  The next night in Edmonton. The Blades took one on the chin. Losing 4-1 to the Oil Kings.

Blades @ Moose Jaw on Tuesday.

Maybe a win is coming? I hope soon.

Blades Mauled by Tigers.

I think everyone knew this would be a tough game. The Blades started well by scoring first.  Nice SPIN-O-RAMA goal too.  The game fell apart for the home team after that. Medicine Hat is a fast team too but bigger and stronger than the Blades. Kinda like the Chicago Blackhawks. When they are scoring 8 goals like that. Logan Flodell was replaced by Brock Hamm after letting in 4 goals.

The final score was 8-2 for the Red HOT Tigers winners of now 9 straight games..  The Blades go to Alberta for 2 games and play Moose Jaw on the way back home.

Saskatoon's next home game is on December 7th VS the Calgary Hitmen. The Blades are in 5th place in the East Division. The Prince Albert Raiders are at the bottom... Hehe

Enjoy these action photos

Blades VS Wheat Kings.

Last night was the first game in years that I had to miss because Saskatoon Transit does not have a bus going to Sask Tel Centre (for now.)

The Blades scored 12 seconds into the first period. Brylon Shmyr had two goals in the 3-2 victory for Saskatoon.

There are good people out there. Someone from the Blades is giving me a ride to the game tonight. So I will be there to watch! Go Blades Go!!

Blades trade Hausinger to Red Deer.

After a loss to the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday. The Blades shook up the roster. Today Saskatoon traded Cam Hausinger to Red Deer for a 2017 5th round pick and 2018 7th round pick.

The  Blades play the Brandon Wheat Kings tonight and Medicine Hat on Saturday. I love back to back home Blades games.

Sunday, November 20, 2016

Blades & Broncos Trade.

The Saskatoon Blades had too many 20 year olds so Ryan Graham was traded to Swift Current for a 2017 2nd round pick and a 2018 4th round pick.

Loosing ways continue for Blades.

A 6-1 defeat to the Moose Jaw Warriors and 2 back to back losses in Brandon was the story of the weekend.

The Blades travel to Swift Current on Tuesday. Back to back home games VS Brandon Friday and Medicine Hat on Saturday. We will see what happens.

Blades End the trip with a WIN.

After a loss in Edmonton and Medicine Hat. The Blades played hard tonight and earned the win in Lethbridge.

The next home game is Thursday VS Moose Jaw at Sask Tel Centre!  Then right back on the road for 2 games in Brandon.

Blades Melt the Kootenay Ice.

Right from the opening face off the home team Blades played with Jump in the stride. They scored the 1st goal. In a very back and forth game.

Logan Flodell got the nod between the pipes. He stopped 38 shots?? He bailed out the Blades defence when called upon.  1st year WHL defenceman (Not a rookie IMO) Mark Rubinchik threw a big hit. Which the Ice did not like.  So Rubinchik fought.  He landed some good punches.  He did end up being taken down.  60 minutes was not enough time.  The Blades had a 2 man advantage. Saskatoon's top line put the game away.

Blades won by a score of 3-2.  Enjoy these photos!!  Very exciting game to watch tonight. The Blades next home game is on Thursday the 17th VS Moose Jaw.  3 road games in Alberta before that!

Blades lose 2 straight games.

Logan Flodell faced his former team the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday night. The Tbirds jumped out to a lead after 40 minutes.

The final score was 4-3. The Blades traveled to Regina tonight.  The Pats are an offensive machine. This would be a tough game. It was a scorers delight. The Pats skated away with the 9-6 win.  The Saskatoon Blades return home on Saturday to face the Kootenay Ice. I am taking my brother to the game. Should be fun!

Back in the win Column.

Well the trip to Prince Albert was well worth it. The game was a typical Blades VS Raiders game. Plenty of hits. Trading scoring chances.  No scoring through 40 minutes.  The teams traded power play chances.  Logan Floddell was a big reason why the Blades had a chance to win this game. As well as a great backchecking effort by Lukas Mackenzie to deny a goal.

Josh Paterson scored the game winner.  Logan Floddell posted a shutout.  Great road game by Saskatoon. The Blades play the Seattle Tbirds on Tuesday and the Kootenay Ice on Saturday! Enjoy these photos.

Struggling Blades

The Saskatoon Blades losing streak continues. They lost at home VS the Spokane Chiefs. 6-2. The Blades were in Moose Jaw last night. Ryan Graham is back and made his season debut.

Saskatoon was on the loosing end 4-2. The Blades play tonight in Prince Albert. Myself and a friend are going to the game. It should be fun!

Blades finish BC Road trip.

Saskatoon finished off the road trip with a loss to both Kamloops 5-1 and a loss to Prince George.  2-3 was the record on the trip.

Brock Hamm played decent tonight stopping 40 shot against a top team.

Saskatoon's next home game is Wednesday VS the Spokane Chiefs.

Blades Defeat Giants.

There is something about Logan Flodell.  He gives the Blades a chance to win every game he starts.

Saskatoon came to play tonight. Posting a 3-1 victory. The Blades are now 2-1 on the road trip. Solid effort so far!  The Blades will play the Kamloops Blazers on Friday and the hot Prince George Cougars on Saturday to wrap up the road trip.

Blades lose to Royals. Make. A Deal

The boys in Blue. The Blades faced off against the Victoria Royals last night.  Brock Hamm got the start in goal.

The Royals were too much. Scoring 9. To the Blades 3.

Tonight the Blades play the Langley Giants. I expect Logan Flodell to start in goal.

Saskatoon made a trade with the Giants. Sending B.C native 17 year old? Foward Josh Bruce home in exchange for Gage Ramsay also 17?  He is from Saskatchewan.

The road trip continues. 1-1 so far. Go Blades Go!

BLADES Grind it out.

Saskatoon opened up thier BC road trip in Kelowna against the Rockets.  Logan Flodell got the start. The Blades came away with the 4-2 win.  Saskatoon's top line did all of the scoring tonight! The Blades took 2 of the 3 stars of the game.

Saskatoon will travel to Victoria to face the Royals on Tuesday. It could be a tough game. Victoria beat up on the Edmonton Oil Kings tonight

Blades split weekend series.

The Saskatoon Blades played the Portland winterhawks on Friday.  I personally love it when US based teams visit Sask Tel centre.

Two hungry teams traded goals and it was a good game to watch. Big hits.

The Hometown Blades scored an empty netter and won 3-1. Logan Flodell was really good. That was win 3 in a row.

The Blades played a matinee against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Brock Hamm was given the start.  He played well making key saves when pressured.

The Blades did lose in overtime though.  Having guys like Cam Hebig out and Ryan Graham does hurt this team.

Saskatoon has a record of 4-3. They now head to BC for a 5 game battle. Starting Friday the 14th in Kelowna.

Blades Get 1st win on Home Ice.

Saskatoon played Prince Albert tonight newly acquired Logan Flodell posted a shut out. Great overall game by the Blades.  Saskatoon won. 2-0

The Blades will continue their home stand Saturday VS the Portland Winterhawks  Sunday VS Edmonton Oil Kings.

Enjoy these photos from the game tonight.

Leafs VS Senators last night.

Last night was EPIC. I saw my favorite hockey team. The Toronto Maple Leafs played the Ottawa Senators at Sask Tel Centre. It was a star studded line up. Morgan Rielly. Nikita Zaitsev. Freddy Andersen. Antoine Bibeau. James Van Reimsdyk. Auston Matthews. Mitch Marner.

This game was well worth the price. Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner were gamers out there. When the Leafs had the 2-1 lead. I thought they would lock it down. Not the case. Ottawa tied the game up and scored again in Overtime.  So the Senators won. They were the hungrier team. After loosing monday night in Winnipeg.

Still very thankful that the Toronto Maple Leafs came to Saskatoon. The crowd booed Dion Phanuef for some reason. There was more Leafs fans in attendance. It is great to see.

Enjoy some photos

Blades split Road trip

The Saskatoon Blades lost 5-1 in Medicine Hat on Friday. However they came ready to play on Saturday in Cranbrook winning 3-2.

Team Canada defeated team Europe in 2 games. Former Saskatoon Blade goalie Braden Holtby was on the team but because of the depth of the team he did not see playing time. He knew his role.

The Leafs play the Senators at Sask Tel Centre on Tuesday. Go Leafs Go.  The Blades next home game is Thursday Oct 6th VS Prince Albert!  I hope Logan Flodell gets the start in goal as I have not seen him play yet.

More hockey??

One follower on twitter suggested that I talk about other hockey teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs and team Canada. So I will try my best. Team Canada with Mike Babcock as coach faces Team Europe in a best of 3 final.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have begun training camp and will play pre season games. They are coming to Saskatoon on Oct 4th and yours truely has a ticket. I am excited!!

Blades Crash and Burn during Home Opener.

I expected more out of this team at the Home opener. Maybe all the buzz of Gordie Howe tribute day was a distraction?? The Blades were held off the score sheet. 6-0 was the final score. 70 games left. Long season. Saskatoon will travel to Medicine Hat for a tilt with the Tigers on Friday September 30th

Enjoy these photos!!

Blades Start off on the right skate.

The Saskatoon Blades opened the 2016-2017 WHL season on the road VS Swift Current Broncos. Dean Brockman made his WHL coaching debut.

Saskatoon scored the first goal of the game. They would not look back. The line of Mason McCarty,Jesse Shynkaruk and Brylon Shmyr was on fire tonight.

Newcomers Josh Bruce and Michael Farren contributed offensively as well.

Logan Flodell was the starting goalie for the visitors. He shut the door on the Broncos.

The final score was 5-1 for the visiting Blades. The rematch goes Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon. The Blades will pay tribute to Mr.Hockey.

Let's start the season!!

The Saskatoon Blades have made a pair of moves prior to the season. I also picked up my season tickets and it came with a sweet hat. See everyone at the rink on Sunday! Go Blades Go.

Time to update this blog

I finally decided to start blogging again. The Saskatoon Blades have made big changes since my last blog entry. New owners. New head coach and GM as well. The team has not made the playoffs in awhile. Fans including myself are hoping this season will be different.

The team has produced a winning record in the pre season. Most recently defeating the Edmonton Oil Kings last night 5-4.

I am excited for the season to start Sept 23rd. The home opener goes Sunday Sept 25th with a tribute to Geordie Howe. It should be a great display.

Go Blades Go. Stay locked here for my own reports and opinions on the Blades this season.
