Blades Win In Shoot-out

Andrey Makarov started for the Blades in net. Saskatoon built up a 3-1 lead at one point. Medicine Hat is a fast team with some offensive weapons like Emerson Etem.

The Blades I thought were still playing sloppy which caused them to give up the lead.

The Tigers tied up the game, and did forced a shoot-out.

The Blades scored 2 times in the shoot-out. They won 4-3.

Their next game is on friday against the Calgary Hitmen. The Blades are 1 win away from tying or breaking the record of most consecutive wins on home ice. Saskatoon continues to lead the WHL in points.

2 WIns This Weekend.

Finally back from Alberta. I had an awesome time! The game was a goal fest with 11 goals being scored. Saskatoon played kinda sloppy throughout.

The Defence needs to step up and not allow so many shot Makarov is going to be worn out if he continues to see so many games in a row and see so much rubber.

Lukas Sutter has really improved and showed that with 2 goals tonight.

The Blades won 6-5. Saskatoon has 3 games next week. Tuesday,Friday and Saturday. Saskatoon is also the top team in the WHL right now.

Blades complete A Comeback

This game tonight was probably one of the best that I have seen on the road. The Blades played ok but they really picked it up in the later stages of the 2nd and 3rd period.

Saskatoon won 2-1 in a playoff type game. The Blades continue to be on a roll. There was a brawl that almost happened at the end. It was because the Blades players huddled and raised their sticks to the Blades fans that were there supporting them. Hopefully there will be no suspensions.

I have to go relax and maybe celebrate a little. The game against the Hitmen is at 3PM here in Alberta. Early morning to have breakfast and go shopping. Go Blades Go!!

Blades Slip Past Ice.

Here is the piece from the Blades website.

The Blades are now ranked 1st in the Eastern Conference!! Go Blades Go.

Blades Shut Down Tigers.

Here is the game summary from the Blades website.

There is also video of game on the Blades website.

Saskatoon will take on the Kootenay Ice tonight in Cranbrook. Hopefully they put last year behind them.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Blades Win In Swift Current.

Andrey Makarov was given the start. Again he made some key saves at key times. The Blades defence needs to help him out. Josh Nicholls got a hat trick.

The Blades won 7-5. Saskatoon will travel to Medicine Hat to face the Tigers next.

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Blades Spoil Dzuirzynski's Return to Saskatoon.

Tonight was the 1st game against Darian Dzuirzynski since he was traded in October.

Andrey Makarov was the starter for the Blades. He stopped 41 shots.

Saskatoon got out to a 3-0 lead. Brandon did find their way back into this game however.

16 year old rookie Devan Fafard fought Aryton Nikkel of the Wheat Kings both of them landed some good shots but Nikkel got the takedown.

Darian Dzuirzynski scored one goal and was the 3rd star of the game.

The final score was 5-2 for the Blades.

The Blades are now 9-0 on home ice,12-6-0-1 overall and sit atop of the East Division for now. (one point ahead of the Pats)

Saskatoon will travel to Swift Current to play the Broncos tomorrow and travel to Medicine Hat to play the Tigers on November 12th.

Blades Still Unbeaten At Home.

After a poor game last night the Blades rebounded against a Lethbridge team that struggled. Adam Todd played goal for the Blades.

Saskatoon was scoring in bunches this game. 4 goals in the 1st period and 3 goals in the 2nd. A big night for everyone. Bringing back the pac-man jerseys was an awesome idea. Lethbridge has a feisty team #22 for the Hurricanes fought 2 times.

7-3 in favour of the Blades. Saskatoon's next game is against Darian Dzuirzynski and the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday night, The Blades have an 8-0 record on home ice.

Blades Fall To Moose Jaw

Let me start off by saying I really like the new rink in Moose Jaw. It has a lot of steps just like Chilliwack's rink did.

I am going to make this short as I work in the morning. Saskatoon played well through 20 minutes but I thought they fell asleep after that. They did keep the game close but could not complete the comeback. The final score was 3-2 for the Warriors.

Hopefully they rebound against the Hurricanes tonight.

Home Winning Streak Contines

Saskatoon continues to play well at the CUC.

The Blades got out to a 3-0 lead and thanks in huge part to Andrey Makarov, who will play for team Russia in the WHL VS Russia Super Series.

16 year old Rookie Devan Fafard got into his 1st WHL fight with anther 16 year old from the Hitmen. I think he did pretty well. I would call it a draw.

I honestly do not know how Alex Elliott is still on the team,he has 0 points in 10 games..... i could understand if he was a rookie but he is not really one. I do not know what he was doing fighting either.

Dalton Thrower went hard into the boards and looked a bit worse for wear. Josh Nicholls was a beast tonight notching 2 points.

The final score was 4-1 for the Blades.

The Blades next action is against the Warriors in Moose Jaw. I am so glad that I am going!!

Go Blades Go!! Saskatoon has won 7 in a row at home.

Blades Fall To The Pats

Tonight the Blades took on the Pats. Saskatoon managed to score only 1 goal and it was scored by the Captain Duncan Siemens. This years edition of the Regina Pats is much improved so kudos to them.

The final score was 2-1 for the Pats.

The Blades will face the Calgary Hitmen tonight at home. On Friday night the Blades will play their 1st game against Moose Jaw at Mosaic place, the booster club will be making the trip to watch the game and yes you guessed it yours truely will be there to take in the game!! A new experience is a good one especially when it comes to hockey.

Saturday, October 29, 2011

Blades Beat Raiders

The Blades played in Prince Albert tonight. Again Andrey Makarov got the start. The Blades were outshot 34-18.

The Blades had a 4-1 lead. The goals were scored by Olsen,Nicholls,Burns and Paradis.

Saskatoon came out on the winning side. 4-3.

The Blades play in Regina on Monday and at home against Calgary on Tuesday. The game will be on Shaw TV so expect attendance to drop.

Thursday, October 27, 2011

2 Blades Named to Team WHL.

Duncan Siemens and Josh Nicholls.

Congratulations and good luck to both players!!!

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Blades Hang On To Defeat Pats.

Tonight was the 1st meeting between the Pats and Blades. After a disappointing US Division road trip, the Blades got right back on track with jumping out to a 4-1 lead at one point. The Pats are a good team this year and gave the Blades fits in the 3rd period. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Josh Nicholls had a solid night collecting 2 goals and 1 assist.

He was a +4 on the night. The Blades did manage to win 5-3.

The Blades next home game is on Saturday October 29th @Prince Albert.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Blades Roadtrip Ends On A Sour Note.

Saskatoon took on the Spokane Chiefs tonight. Another game where they had the lead and gave it away. The Blades had a 3-1 lead during the game.

Dalton Thrower dropped the gloves against Spokane's Captain Darren Kramer and recent Ottawa Senators draft pick. Let's just say Thrower did not win this fight,he came out of it leaking. I am not sure if he returned to the game after that.

The final score was 5-3 for Spokane. Clearly the Blades are missing Trask,Collins and maybe someone else who I am forgetting. I think it was Stransky but he played tonight so I don't know.

The Blades next home game is against the Regina Pats on Wednesday October 26th.

Hopefully being back home will help them regain whatever they lost.

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Blades Lose To Americans

Here are highlightes from the game: http://www.whl.ca/video/index/id/1319133656

The Blades lost the game 5-2 and they will play the last game of the US tour on Friday in Spokane.

The Blades are 1 point ahead of the Pats in the East Division.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Blades Lose To Portland

Tonights game was a goal scorers delight. The Blades had leads of 4-2 and 5-3. Maple Leaf prospects in this game had good nights Josh Nicholls had 4 goals and 2 assists and Brad Ross had 2 goals and 2 assists.

Adam Todd was given the start. Portland outshot the Blades 44-39.

There was a lot of NHL drafted players in this game. Saskatoon lost in a shoot-out 7-6.

The Blades have 2 games left Tri City tonight and Spokane on Friday.

Josh Nicholls was the 1st star,Brad Ross was the 2nd and Sven Bartschi was the 3rd star of the game.

Through 10 games so far the Blades have a record 7-2-0-1 good for 15 points. The Blades sit 2nd in the Eastern Conference behind the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Blades & Wheat Kings Trade

http://www.saskatoonblades.com/article/blades-trade-dziurzynski-to-brandon

The Blades receive 3 draft picks I think this may be a smart move because those picks can be used to help load up for the 2013 Memorial Cup.

Saskatoon lost to Seattle last night by a count of 4-2. The Blades will travel to Portland Oregon to take on the Winterhawks on the tuesday the 18th, Tri City on Wednesday the 19th and Spokane on Friday the 21st. Saskatoon has a record of 1-1 so far on this trip.

The next Blades home game is against the Regina Pats on October 26th.

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Blades Defeat Everett

After a 20 plus hour bus ride to the US,the Blades started their tour of the US Division on Friday.

The Blades came out and played like they always do. Makarov was given the start. A 16 year old rookie was in goal for the Silvertips. The Blades fired 54 pucks on net. They scored 4 times. (1 was an empty netter)

The final score was 4-2 for the Blades. It was good to hear that the young guys were given some time on the PP. Zajac,Olsen and Stovin.

Saskatoon will continue their tour tonight against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Sadly I have to work tonight. Go Blades Go......

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Saskatoon Will Host the 2013 Memorial Cup!!!

http://www.saskatoonblades.com/article/blades-to-host-2013-memorial-cup

I am so excited and proud to be a Season Ticket Holder of the Blades for 7 years now. I am sure that Saskatoon will not let Hockey Canada down. They put on a great show at the World Juniors and also congratulations to Red Deer and Kelowna for putting in bids as well! Your time will come.

Thank you Saskatoon and well done. The hard work has now paid off!!

Blades Outlast Warriors.Remain Unbeaten At Home.

I was invited to sit in box seats for this game and let me say this: The view is awesome from up there. Awesome picture taking area for sure.

It was a seesaw battle all throughout the game. Each team trading goals. Andrey Makarov made some huge saves at key times.

Dalton Thrower was at it again. Doing what he does best. Throwing punches. In my opinion.

Both goalies played well. The Blades were able to get the win in overtime. They now have a 6-1 record.

Saskatoon will now play all 5 US Division teams. Their next home game is not until October 26th.

Hopefully there will be good updates during this trip.

Monday, October 10, 2011

Blades are on a Hot Streak.

Saskatoon played another good game on Saturday night and the game was chippy and had emotion . Darian Dzuirzynski made his presence felt with one goal. I am so glad that he was sent back. He looks like he is playing a smarter game, same goes for Lukas Sutter. Kyle Haas is trying to be an energy player but I think he only tries to pick fights which could be a bad thing. There is a reason he made the team though.

Nick Zajac showed his speed and also created a couple scoring chances.

Both Duncan Siemens and Dalton Thrower were involved in tilts. 1 for 2 was the decision. I do not think that was Siemen's best fight.

Hopefully nobody receives a suspension. Saskatoon will host Moose Jaw on Tuesday before hitting the road for their US Division road trip. Also some team bonding is good. Hopefully they can continue this on the road. It is also a good way to get away from the home crowd pressure and just play their game.

Saskatoon has a 5-1 record.

Saturday, October 8, 2011

Dziurzynski Sent Back.

Now with this move the Blades have 4 Overagers. I think we will see some movement which is good. This is a luxury not having to trade for your 20 year olds.

Dzuirzynski is expected to play against the Oil Kings tonight.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

New Look Blades Defeat Cougars.

It is official Andrey Makarov will be the starting goalie for the Blades this season. He was solid in the game.

The newcomers Michael Burns and Zach Hodder played good. I think they will both do well this season. The Cougars looked tired, they ran into penalty trouble which did not help their cause.

The Blades biggest lead of the game was 4-1 and that was the final score. The Cougars did show some signs of life throughout the game especially in the 3rd period. Charles Inglis was in the building tonight. He did not play.

Saskatoon will continue their homestand with 2 games remaining until they go on their U.S road trip.

The Blades record is now 4-1. Their next action is this Saturday at home against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Blades and GIants Deal.

Today the two teams made a 4 player trade: Adam Morrison and Levi Bews go to the Vancouver Giants and the Blades receive 20 year old Right Winger Michael Burns as well as 18 year old defencemen Zach Hodder and a 4th round draft pick in 2013.

I like this trade. Burns is an insurance if Darian Dzuirzynski does not come back. Brayden Schenn was sent down to the Phantoms of the AHL. I think he and Hamilton will stay in the AHL.
Adam Todd has been recalled so it looks like he will back-up Andrey Makarov

The newest Blades are expected in the line-up tomorrow against the Prince George Cougars.

Sadly Charles Inglis was suspended for a head shot so he will not be able to face his former team.

Go Blades Go!!!

Saturday, October 1, 2011

Blades VS Brandon.

For some reason I did not even listen to the game. It was not a pretty sight....at all. Want to take a guess who was in net?? Morrison. I think it is clear that maybe the Blades do not play that well in front of him or maybe the Wheat Kings have a good team this year??

Wheaties Captain Mark Stone had a hat trick and 1 assist. That pretty much says it all in my opinion.

It looks like the 2 rookies fought for the Blades Kyle Haas and Devan Fafard. I would like to see the video of these fights... hopefully www.hockeyfights.com will have one up soon.

It is going to be an interesting month of October.... The Blades will find out if their bid for the 2013 Memorial Cup was successful and who the 3 overagers will be. I myself might want to go with a duo of Makarov and Todd or another goalie.

The final score was 6-0.

The Blades will return home and put their perfect record at home to the test, against Charles Inglis and the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night. It should be a great game!!

Friday, September 30, 2011

Blades Improve to a 3-0 Record

Saskatoon did not play a good first 40 minutes of hockey but with the help of Andrey Makarov the Blades came from behind and won the game 4-2.

Dalton Thrower was a big factor in this game for 2 reasons: he threw a HUGE hit on a rebel player and took on Adam Kambietz and landed some solid shots leaving Kambietz leaking blood.

Brent Benson was injured blocking a shot and he did not return. I hope it is not too serious. Hopefully it is not broken like some people fear it is.

The Blades will not travel to Brandon for a game against the Wheat Kings tomorrow night. Also to face off against former team mate now foe, Aryton Nikkel.

Monday, September 26, 2011

Hamilton Sent to the AHL. Blades reassign 2.

20 year old forward Curtis Hamilton was assigned to the Oklahoma City Barrons. I think that there is very little chance that he could return to the Blades. It looks like he will go pro.

In other news the Blades have reassigned Christian Stockl and Hudson Morrison back to their respective clubs.

Here is the press release from the Blades website: http://www.saskatoonblades.com/article/blades-re-assign-two-wingers

Phoenix Coyotes training camp starts soon and Darian Dzuirzynski still remains there. As far as I know he is still unsigned. (someone please correct me if I am wrong.)

He could still be sent back and that would be a huge boost for the Blades.

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Blades Defeat Raiders. Again

Duncan Siemens has been returned by the Colorado Avalanche. The Blades penalty killing was awesome this game, because the team scored 2 short handed goals.

Josh Nicholls beat the Eric Williams less than 4 minutes into the game.

Jesse Paradis also scored a short handed goal. He is a PK MACHINE!!

The Blades were 2 for 6 on the power play. Saskatoon now has a 2-0 record with Andrey Makarov aiding the Blades to a 5-3 win.

The Blades next game is against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday Sept 30th at the CUC.

Saturday, September 24, 2011

Blades Win Home Opener!!

It was a very emotional game,I am talking about the tribute for Wade Belak and Brad Mcrimmion. It was a nice gesture.

The Blades came out alive and controlling the possession of play. The newly acquired Jesse Paradis scored the opening goal for the Blades. It was a very tight game and give PA credit because even though they did not have possession of the puck alot they still fought for every inch.

Adam Morrison was given the start. The 20 year old situation has become a competition and I like that.

The Raiders scored to tie the game up. Jesse Paradis scored a nice 3 on 5 short-handed goal to give the Blades the lead. After that the Blades took control of the game until the 3rd period when they let the lead slip away.

Saskatoon still managed to get the one goal victory. 4-3. These two teams will do battle in Prince Albert tonight.

So far a good start to the season for the Blades.

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Blades End Pre Season on a Loosing Streak.

The Russian Andrey Makarov got the start and he looked good for the most part. He struggled in the Shootout.

The Blades played well building a 2 goal lead at one point. The newly acquired Kyle Schmidt was in the line-up. He is not very mobile but adds experience and toughness.

The Blades fell in a shoot-out. The Home Opener is on Friday September 24th.

I am very excited. It will be interesting to see which players return from NHL camps.

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Blades Beat Swift Current.

Firstly I could not make the trip to Swift Current. Goaltender Patrick Johnson, Brett Lernout and Landyn Hickmott were re-assigned,so that leaves 3 goalies still in camp. Adam Morrison,Adam Todd and Andrey Makarov and 30 players left in camp.

Both Andrey Makarov and Adam Morrison saw time in net tonight. Each allowing no goals. The Blades scored 3 goals to ensure victory.

The Blades will now have 1 week off before traveling to Moose Jaw to battle the Warriors on Friday with the rematch going Saturday the 17th at Credit Union Centre.

Saturday, September 3, 2011

Blades Get Revenge.

Seeing the Blades for the 1st time since their 2nd round sweep was nice.

Some of the Blades rookies look impressive. #17 Kyle Haas played well with a good tilt in the 2nd as well as scoring 2 goals. Nick Zajac is fast.... Not too sure if he has all of the tools this year to make the team.

Brett Stovin really played well chipping in with 3 assists. Christian Stockl added 2 goals to his credit. Many of these guys are making a name for themselves.

Patrick Johnson played the first 3o minutes surrendering 1 goal. Adam Todd allowed 1 as well. If I was Adam Morrison I may be a tad worried with the competition. A lot of talk around the rink tonight saying that one of the goalies in camp could be the back-up and that Morrison could be traded.

The only minus player for the Blades was Alex Elliott.

The final score was 6-2 for the Blades. The team of mostly rookies played well tonight.

The Blades next game is in Swift Current on Friday Sept 9th. Hopefully I can make the trip.

Blades Pre Season Underway.

1st some late very sad news to share. Former Blade and Maple Leaf Wade Belak who was only 35 years old passed away this week. In his condo in Toronto. This is the 3rd hockey player that the hockey world has lost this summer. All of them enforcer/tough guys.

The NHL better step in and do something. Just because these players go out and fight every night does not mean that they are invincible. It is a very stressful role to play these days. As seen by the comments made by George Laraque,Tyson Nash,Cody Franson etc.

My condolences go out to all of his family and friends.

Now onto some better hockey news. The Blades kicked off their pre season on Wednesday night with a tilt in Prince Albert against the Raiders. Saskatoon managed to score 1st. That was all that they could really do.

I am excited for Saturday. Also to see the rookies and players looking to earn a spot on the Blades roster or even just trying to get listed/protected by the Blades. Hockey is Back!!!!

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Blades Using New Technology.

Here is a good article about concussion monitoring:

I hope more teams use this chip.

400 posts!!!

Blades training camp starts today. I would have liked to go catch some action but work is preventing that. I can not wait for the pre season game. In PA and Saskatoon.

What A Summer.

Some very sad events have taken place over the summer. The sudden death of Derek Boogaard and most recently Rick Rypien. I think I was just getting into following the WHL when these two players played for the Regina Pats.

Both of them knew there role on the ice and I am sure they were great guys away from the rink. I never met either of them. My condolences go out to all of their family and friends.

Things like this make us realize how short life can be.

Blades training camp starts on August 24th. If anyone goes I would appreciate some feedback.

I am now on twitter, and have been since July. @Saskhockeyfan88 is my handle.

Go to the Blades website for all the information about training camp and more. Time for me to enjoy 3 days away from work.

Blades Release Season Schedule.

This is probably late I know. It is summer so I have been outside and not near a computer, well my blackberry is almost like a computer..... Here is the link to the schedule: http://www.saskatoonblades.com/schedule/list/time_zone/-120/team/22

4 Blades Drafted & Russian Goalie Selected.

Duncan Siemens went to the Colorado Avalanche 11th overall. Matej Stransky was drafted by the Dallas Stars,Darren Dietz went the Montreal Canadiens and Darian Dzuirzynski was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes. Brent Benson was not picked. Hopefully he earns a camp invite with one team.

The Blades traded with the Prince George Cougars and selected Russian goaltender Andre Makarov. Here is an article written about him.

It also looks like Morrison will be returning as per the Blades press release.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

NHL News,Brayden Schenn Traded,WHL Preseason Schedule Announced

http://www.whl.ca/article/2011-whl-pre-season-schedule-announced

Brayden Schenn along with teammate Wayne Simmonds was traded from LA to Philly for Mike Richards and a 2nd round draft pick.

The NHL Entry Draft in tomorrow and Saturday in Minnesota. Duncan Siemens is a sure pick,Brent Benson,Matej Stransky and Darren Dietz also could be selected.

Thrashers To Winnipeg??

I think it could be very possible but if this does happen, where will the Manitoba Moose go? Will it be Saskatoon? If that were to happen the Blades would have to go somewhere else. Also how will it effect Brandon Wheat Kings attendance?

The quest for the 2011 Memorial Cup starts tomorrow in Mississauga Ontario.

Season Tickets Renewed

Yes I am still renewing my season tickets and did so today. Let me just add,the playoff credit is awesome. Low and behold Brayden Schenn was down there at the exact same time that I was,he was busy though. No I did not strike up a conversation with him. Just left him alone. Maybe he will be in the 4 on 4 play on road hockey tournament later on in June? That would be cool if both he and Luke were in the celebrity game...

Oh and just in case you missed it the Kootenay Ice are off to the Memorial Cup!! Go Ice Go!!!

Saturday, May 7, 2011

WInterhawks Take Game #1.

It is looks like this series will be a good one because the first game was fast and had some good goals. Both teams traded 1 goal leads and took the game into overtime. Ty Rattie scored the winner for Portland.

Game #2 goes tonight.

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Blades Select 12 Players At Bantam Draft.

The Blades picked 7 forwards,4 defencemen and 1 goalie. 2 were from B.C,3 were from Alberta,6 were from Saskatchewan, they selected 1 player from Manitoba and they did not select any players from the United States.

Hopefully the scouting staff did a good job because not having a 1st or 2nd round pick hurts the restocking process and trading away last years top picks as well.

Next up is the Import Draft in June.

Monday, May 2, 2011

Ice VS Winterhawks For The Ed Chynoweth Cup!

Portland won game 6 of their series with Spokane,so the two teams that made big trades meet in the WHL Finals. Portland landing Craig Cunningham and the Kootenay Ice landed Cody Eakin.

I think I will cheer for the Ice seeing as the Blades played them and that they are an Eastern Conference team. On the other hand I would like to see Portland do well because Brad Ross (a Leaf prospect) plays for Portland.

Hopefully I will be able to see some games on Shaw.

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Ice Sweep Tigers.

The Kootenay Ice continue their winning ways and they have now won 11 games in a row.

7-2 was the final score for the Ice. Max Reinhart scored 5 goals for the Ice. His brother Sam also is playing for the Ice now as a 15 year old.

The attendance in Cranbrook at the Rec Plex is kind of sad. The Vancouver Canucks winning their 1st round series can be used as an excuse and Shaw TV for another. In the finals that building should be sold out.

The Ice will face either Portland or Spokane. I am on the Cody Eakin and Kootenay Ice bandwagon now.

Ice Ice Baby!!!!!!!

WHL Returns To Victoria.

Well with all of the rumors and speculation going around the past while,I am glad to see it has settled. The Chilliwack Bruins are relocating to Victoria, and I am excited about that because that means I can see hockey in another rink that I have not been too.

It will be interesting to see what the team name will be and what the logo will look like.

I Hope that the Blades stay in Saskatoon though.

Curtis Hamilton Signs With Oilers

This does improve his chances of staying in the AHL full time but strange things have happened before. Sam Klassen, Marek Viedensky and Milan Kytnar were all returned in their overage seasons. Congrats to him after a productive injury free season.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Blades Done in 4.

Finally back from the long bus ride home.

The Blades could not handle a hot goalie and a good Kootenay Ice team. One can make up all the excuses in the world but the fact of the matter is that the Blades are out. Maybe they could be the laughing stock of the league this season? After winning the Scotty Munroe Trophy and breaking numerous records, they fail when it counts.

The Blades will be rebuilding even more so now since giving Brandon a handful of draft picks and prospects.

Also when a team is as talented as the Blades this year with all the experience that they had one would think that they could do some damage. What would it have taken to get past the 2nd round? Swap Eakin for Schenn and add Brayden McNabb as well.

Ok enough with that! Something should be done. If a team does well in the regular season and fails in the playoffs seemly every time they get there, then something has to change. I feel for some of the players that worked their asses off all season and in playoffs as well.

I think that Kootenay may have a tough time with Medicine Hat.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Blades Down 0-2 Going to Cranbrook.

The 1st game was a 4-1 loss, the 2nd game was a much closer 3-2 loss. The Blades played better tonight and it could have gone either way in O.T.

The series now shifts to Cranbrook for games 3 and 4 Tuesday and Wednesday night. I am a die hard fan and I am making the trip on the fan bus to go see the next two games. I survived the B.C road trip so I should be ok with this one..... If any team can come back and win a series down 0-2. I think that the Blades can do it.

The road teams have done well as both the Tigers and Ice have won both games on the road. Let's hope that the Blades can continue that trend.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Blades 2nd Round Series on Shaw.

That means I will not have to make a road trip to Cranbrook. Just be available so I can be at home and watch the games on tv.

Monday, April 4, 2011

Blades VS Ice In 2nd Round.

The Saskatoon Blades swept the season series between the two teams, but that almost means nothing now. Look at the fight that Prince Albert put up.

Here is the Schedule: Games 1 and 2 in Saskatoon are on Friday April 8th and Saturday April 9th. Games 3 and 4 are on Tuesday April 12th and Wednesday April 13th. Game #5 is on Saturday April 16th in Saskatoon, Game #6 is on Monday April 18th in Cranbrook and Game 7 would be in Saskatoon on Wednesday April 20th.

This should be one heck of a good series!!

Blades Win in PA!!

Wow What a game to see. The Raiders scored the 1st goal. This game was so tight. So much nerves for at least the fans. The Blades tied the game. The Raiders were starting to tire out as the 3rd period went on. The Raiders iced the puck multiple times and the Blades confidence just built up into the overtime.

The Raiders tried their best to force a game 7. Jamie Tucker is sure a character...let me say that much.... I loved this... Tuuuuuucker... haha.

Matthew Stransky scored the series clinching goal.

The Blades defencemen (Teigan Zahn in particular blocked a lot of shots) The Blades opening video describes it perfectly. Determination, hard work and all of those other things that it takes too win.

If Brandon somehow defeats Medicine Hat,then the Blades will play Brandon but if Medicine Hat wins, then the Blades will play Kootenay.

Games 1 and 2 in Saskatoon are on Friday April 8th and Saturday April 9th. Games 3 and 4 are on Tuesday April 12th and Wednesday April 13th.

I am hoping that I can make another road trip. I would not mind Kootenay. I hear it is a nice
place and I have never been before.

Go Blades Go!!!

Blades Show Up in game #5

For the Blades playing on home ice is huge. There was no scoring until the 2nd period. The Blades are back. They played Blades hockey and did what it takes to win.

8-0 was the final for the Blades. Darren Dietz had a solid fight against Austin Conner.

The Blades will try and end the series tonight in PA. I am hoping that the Blades can score some goals early and take the PA crowd out of it.

Series Tied At 2.

I was hoping that I would not use that at the headline but unfortunately this is true. Saskatoon did not play "Blades Hockey" The Raiders did everything better. Sure the Blades scored the 1st goal, but they did not seem to want this game that much.

Wow I am sick to my stomach and I really hope that the Blades come out with a better effort on Saturday. Sure this is a home team series. It does take 4 games to win a series and I think that the Raiders have a lot of momentum now. A lot of people thought this series would be done in 4 or 5 but hopefully the Blades prevail in 6. I can not understand why the Blades have good regular seasons and choke when it counts? (They are not done yet but getting to close for comfort)

Some people will say that maybe the referees help decide this game with some bad calls but whatever.

On a positive note I was the Blades fan that participated in the 2nd intermission tricycle race. (yes I know I lost) but I still won something. ($10 Husky Gift Certificate) Also the fan bus does a pool of pick the scores for the 1st, 2nd and final and my random score was 5-2 Raiders so I went home with $52 and basically went to that game for free!!!!

The Blades have a tough road ahead of them but it can be done. I am sure that none of the guys want to pack up and go home yet. I sure as hell do not want the hockey season to be over.

If the Blades do loose out I think jobs may be on the line here.

Go Blades Go.

Also good thing they caught the Brayden Schenn Facebook impersonator. Hopefully the Blades can put this all behind them.

Blades Lose Game #3.

The way they played they did deserve to lose. The Raiders came out with so much more jump.

The Blades trailed 2-0 after one but within 10 minutes or so of the 2nd the game was tied up.

Saskatoon still leads the series 2 games to 1 with game #4 tomorrow night in PA. I still think that the Blades will take this series in 5.

Hopefully the Blades can get back on track with a win tomorrow night but PA is a difficult place to play in.

Blades Defeat Raiders,Take A 2-0 Series Lead.

Saskatoon had a slow start and I think the entire first period was a bad period. The Raiders scored but the goal was dis allowed because of a high stick.

Brayden Schenn opened up the scoring with a nice deke, backhand goal. Darian Dziurzynski padded the Blades lead with his 1st of the playoffs.

Prince Albert scored in the 2nd period. The Blades did score 3 more goals to get 5 on the night.

There was some fights and more emotion in this game tonight which was good to see. The Blades take a 2-0 series lead. I am excited to be taking in games 3 and 4 in PA next week. It should be 2 games of great hockey.

It will be interesting to see how both teams respond after a change in venue. A Smaller crowd but still a very good atmosphere.

Blades Pound Raiders. Take 1-0 Series Lead

The Blades proved to be too much for the Raiders.

The score was 3-0 after one.

7-1 was the score after 40 minutes.

The Blades are doing everything they need too. If they continue this the series may be done in 4 games.

The final score was 8-1 for Saskatoon.

I think Prince Albert will come out with a better effort on Sunday. I think that the Raiders may win 1 game on home ice.

It will be interesting to see who starts in goal tomorrow for the Blades.

Game #2 tomorrow!! Go Blades Go!!!!

Friday, March 25, 2011

Blades Start Playoffs Tomorrow At Home.

Mission 16 W starts now!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday is game #1 of the Blades VS Raiders series.

It should be a good one and the rivalry will probably show a lot tomorrow. I am very excited. Check out some of the other game 1's that were played today.... Interesting scores.

Go Blades Go!!!!!!

Blades VS Raiders 1st round. Blades Defeat Pats

The Pats were up 2-0 but it was probably because Saskatoon's top players were sparingly used. Brett Stovin scored a goal and the Blades did all of their scoring in the final 20 minutes.

Brayden Schenn scored a goal and added an assist.
3-2 Blades prevailed in overtime.

The Blades will close out the season tomorrow night at home.

Here is the schedule for the 1st round.

Game 1 - Sat Mar 26 7:05 PM Prince Albert at Saskatoon
Game 2 - Sun Mar 27 6:05 PM Prince Albert at Saskatoon
Game 3 - Wed Mar 30 7:00 PM Saskatoon at Prince Albert
Game 4 - Thurs Mar 31 7:00 PM Saskatoon at Prince Albert

Blades Steal 2 Points From Warriors

Tonight was a mean nothing game in terms of points and standings but the rivalry was alive.

Each team trading goals all game long. Overtime would solve nothing.

Marek Viedensky shot 1st for the Blades: He burried the puck in the Moose Jaw goal. Sebastian Svendsen and Quinton Howden both failed to score. Brayden Schenn put the game away with his shoot-out winner.

Saskatoon will close out the season with a home and home against Regina on Friday and Saturday night.

As for playoff talk I am hearing 2 different sets of dates for the games in Prince Albert. I have heard Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th. I have also heard Wednesday the 30th and Thursday the 31st. We know that games 1 and 2 will be Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th @ the CUC.

Blades Shut Out Oil Kings

The game tonight was on schedule which was good. The Blades were not themselves tonight,or just a tired bunch. Saskatoon did not score until the 2nd period.

Edmonton was putting on good pressure and taking advantage of a tired Saskatoon team that made mistakes but yet Steven Stanford bailed his team out.

The final score was 4-0. Edmonton came close to breaking the shutout but did not succeed.

In the 3rd period Stefan Elliott recorded an assist which was his 240th point. He now holds the record for most points by a Blades defencemen.

That was a great effort by the Blades tonight and Steven Stanford earned his 3rd shutout of the season.

The Blades next game is on Wednesday against the rival Moose Jaw Warriors. Then Saskatoon travels to Regina to for a game, and Saturday the 19th is the last home game for the Blades this season.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Blades Lose In OT.

Tonight was another close game. The Blades lost 4-3 in overtime and will have to wait until tomorrow to try and get the 53rd win of the season.

Apparently their is a blizzard in Manitoba so the Blades will stay overnight and then come back home tomorrow. Hopefully this will not affect the Blades too much.

Just a note here, according to the WHL score sheet the Wheat Kings never took a penalty.

The Blades take on the Edmonton Oil Kings tomorrow. (If the Blades can get back to Saskatoon in time)

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Blades Win in Brandon.

The Saskatoon Blades had a goal in mind(get a win on the road tonight and many more I am sure) but they crossed winning the Scotty Munro trophy off of there list of goals for the season. Can they pass the 07-08 Calgary Hitmen's point total of 122?

The Blades now have 3 more goals: To Clinch the Eastern Conference, and finish atop of the WHL in the playoffs and win the Ed Chynoweth Cup and hopefully Win a Memorial Cup.

16 year old rookie Ryan Olsen scored a goal and added an assist. Marek Viedensky had 2 goals. Brayden Schenn had 1 assist.

The final score was 5-3. The rematch goes Friday in Brandon.

Former Blade Signs An NHL Contract

http://whl.ca/article/cougars-acolatse-signs-with-nhl-s-sharks

He will join former teammate Curt Gogol (who also signed with the Sharks.)

Hard work pays off. I liked watching him when he played for the Blades.

Saturday, March 5, 2011

Blades Win Again.

This time their opponent was the Moose Jaw Warriors and there is quite the rivalry between these two teams.

Adam Morrison let in a goal less than a minute into the game.

A fight happened less than 4o seconds in the game so after the 1st goal. Joel Edmundson took on Duncan Siemens of the Blades and this was a good tilt the two stood in their and traded punches for an impressive amount of time.

Also in the 1st period Cody Beach and Marek Viedensky fought but I was hearing around me that Beach did not fairly ask Viedensky to fight. I did not see how it happened. Beach did get the better of Viedensky though.

The score after 1 period was 1-1.

In the 2nd period Darren Dietz wanted to fight Cody Beach but he would not accept. Each were given 2 minute penalties.

The rough battles continued until the end of the 2nd period.

4-1 Blades after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd period the two teams stuck to playing hockey. The Blades scored 3 times and Warriors once.

The final score was 7-2. The Blades now have 104 points, 51 wins and Stefan Elliott needs 2 more points to break the record for most points by a defencemen.

The Blades next games are Wednesday and Friday In Brandon against the Wheat Kings.

Blades Dominate Ice

First off... How about those jerseys?? I loved them.

Brayden Schenn's jersey was the most expensive. I was not expecting to see such a high scoring game tonight.

They asked the Blades who cooks better meals? Your mom? or your Billet? Pretty funny stuff.

Every player except 4 Blades registered a point tonight. Blades led 3-0 after 1 period. How about Josh Nicholls diving goal? I think that one will make Plays Of The Week.

7-0 Blades after 2. Brayden McNabb of the Ice checked Chris Collins from behind and was given a game misconduct. Chris Collins was ok.

In the 3rd period Kootenay broke the goose egg, It was a fun game to watch because of so many goals being scored and this is the type of game that the Blades want to play, because they are good at it.

The defence was solid tonight. No points for Cody Eakin which was surprising. Maybe the Ice just had an off night? Or are the Blades just that good?

9-2 was the final score. 50 wins on the season for the Blades and 102 points.

Saskatoon will host Moose Jaw tomorrow night.

Blades Storm Back: Defeat Oil Kings

The Blades welcomed back Brent Benson and Marek Viedensky to the line-up.

Saskatoon was trailing 4-2 but do not fear Brayden Schenn is here!!!! 3 points for the 19 year old Centre.

Adam Morrison started the game but he was pulled in favor of Steven Stanford.

The final 40 minutes was when the Blades went to work scoring 6 goals and getting the two points it was not pretty but it helps Saskatoon who are 5 points away from clinching the Eastern conference and 7 points away from finishing 1st overall in the WHL.

49 wins,100 points and more records might be broken by the Saskatoon Blades.

The Blades return to Saskatoon for a Friday game against Kootenay and a Saturday tilt with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Holy Comeback Batman!!!!!!!!

Wow what a game!! The Warrriors led the game 1-0 almost the entire game but with less than 10 minutes to go the Blades tied the game.

Both Marek Viedensky and Brent Benson did not play. The Blades are thin at the Center position, Dalton Thrower a defencemen took a faceoff tonight,no I am not joking!!!

Overtime solved nothing but there were good chances both ways.

Both Jake Trask and Brayden Schenn were stopped by Thomas Heemskerk but Curtis Hamilton skated in and let a shot go that found the back of the net.

Saskatoon has 98 points and they have 9 games left,so they can hopefully break the record of 105.

With this win the Blades are a step closer to locking up the Eastern Conference title.

The Blades will face the Oil Kings in Edmonton on Wednesday and play Kootenay and Moose Jaw friday and Saturday at home.

TIme for me to go to bed. I am tired from todays trip to Moose Jaw. Definitely a unique rink and sitting so close to the glass adds to that feeling.

Friday, February 25, 2011

Blades Lose To Wheat Kings

This game was another game where I thought that the Blades did not play a full 60 minutes. Saskatoon started strong but in the 2nd period they were not working and it showed as Brandon found themselves back in the game after erasing a 4-1 lead.

There is something about the Wheat Kings and the number 7 perhaps that is the average number of goals that they score in a game? They did that tonight in a great comeback that was seen by 6,000 plus and all of those who watched on Shaw tv tonight.

Rookie Ryan Olsen saw 1st line duty tonight and he scored his 8th goal of the season on a nice deflection.

The final score was 7-6 for the Wheat Kings. Hopefully the Blades will have one of (of both) Brent Benson or Marek Viedensky back in the line-up tomorrow in Moose Jaw.

Kelowna sort of did the Blades a favor by defeating the Rebels but the Blades did not get two points so they lose ground in the eastern conference race.

The Blades fan bus is travelling to Moose Jaw for the game tomorrow and yours truly will be there. I am excited for tomorrow no doubt.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Blades Stop Wheaties.

Well Saskatoon's 1st line of Brayden Schenn, Jake Trask and Curtis Hamilton was on fire tonight. The line was in on 6 of the Blades 7 goals. Schenn had a 5 point night.

The Blades were without the services of Brent Benson and Marek Viedensky, and the lines had to be juggled.

Brandon was dangerous on the powerplay. The Blades must work to limit the penalties that they take.

2 fights in this game. Dalton Thrower fought Jens Meilleur and I think he got the best of him earning the takedown and landing some solid shots.

Maple Leafs prospect Josh Nicholls laid a big hit on Paul Ciarelli and the two wanted to drop em and they did partially until Nicholls lost his balance trying to throw punches or prepare to but the referees broke the fight up prematurely.

The Blades did their part in getting two points but Red Deer beat Kootenay 5-4 in a shoot-out.

The Blades and Wheat Kings will do battle again on friday night at the Credit Union Centre.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Blades Lose To Medicine Hat.

The Blades did all of their scoring in the 1st period. The Tigers took over from there. The final score was 5-2,the Tigers finally beat the Blades.
I think it is safe to say that the Blades will finish 1st in the East Division.

The Blades will now regroup and get set to face Brandon at home on Wednesday night and on Friday night as well.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

Blades Win In Cranbrook.

Well I am sure that this game was circled on a lot of calenders for 2 reasons: The reunion of 3 World Junior teammates and two of the better teams in the WHL going to battle.

As for how the reunion went: Schenn 3 points. Eakin and Hamilton were held pointless.

The Blades got out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the 2nd period. Kootenay tried to comeback with 2 goals of their own but Saskatoon just put the game away with 1 more goal plus an empty netter by Jake Trask.

I wonder if Adam Morrison will get the start tomorrow VS the Tigers?

5-3 final score.

Blades Still Going Strong.

The Blades split games with a 7-4 lose to Brandon in Westman Place (a tough arena for the Blades this season.)

The next night they rebounded against a good Medicine Hat Tigers team. Saskatoon had a 4-1 lead and decided to sit back,so the game went into overtime. Brayden Schenn scored the winner.

Speaking of him here is an interview that was emailed to me from Aaron Vickers: http://futureconsiderationsdotca.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/the-future-of-hockey-brayden-schenn/

The Blades will face two tough opponents again this weekend with a game against Cody Eakin and the Kootenay Ice. Sunday they travel to the gas city in Medicine Hat,for a rematch.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Blades Defeat Warriors Again.

Saskatoon looked to extend their winning streak to 11 games and they did just that. They went up 3-1 after 20 minutes. Just like on Wednesday the Warriors would not go away. Moose Jaw scored 2 goals to even the score.

The game was tied until late in the game until Marek Viedensky gave the Blades the lead.

Jake Trask put the game away with an empty net goal. Brent Benson was injured in the 1st period, and did not return.

Saskatoon now has 90 points and are ever so closer to breaking the record of 105.

Brayden Schenn and the Blades make a visit to Brandon on Tuesday. Saskatoon's next home game is Wednesday against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Steven Stanford has played 11 straight games,he must be getting tired so hopefully Adam Morrison can come back soon and stay healthy.

Friday, February 11, 2011

Blades Defeat Raiders. Win 10th Straight.

A friday night game and when the Raiders play the Blades is always an entertaining night.

It was a family affair for the Hamilton's as Bruce Hamilton was on hand to help present Lorne Molleken with a picture and a silver stick to honor his 500 WHL win. It was Curtis Hamilton's sister's birthday.

The Blades built up a 2-1 lead after 1 period. Both goals by Brayden Schenn.

Saskatoon continued their strong play with 3 more goals in the 2nd frame. 2 goals by Chris Collins.

The triple threat for the Blades Darian Dziurynski scored his 26th goal of the season to increase the Blades lead.
Josh Nicholls had a 3 point game.

There was 2 fights in this game. Lukas Sutter took on Tyler Yaworski and it was a pretty even fight, maybe give a slight edge to Sutter.

In the other fight: Dalton Thrower fought Antoine Corbin and did VERY WELL. He left Corbin with a bruise or a cut under his left eye.

A very impressive fight for the 17 year old defencemen.

The Blades now continue to lead the WHL with a record of 42-10-2.

There are good video's that can be watched on the Blades website. Go check it out.

The Blades now travel to Moose Jaw for an important rematch against the Warriors on Saturday.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Blades Beat Warriors.

The Warriors entered this game loosing their last 3 games while the Blades are riding a 9 game winning streak (could be 10 after friday)

Just over 2 minutes into the game. Darian Dziurzynski and Cody Beach dropped the gloves. Dzuirzynski is so good with that left jab at the start but he had his hands full with Cody Beach. Give Darian credit he stands in their with the best of them.

In terms of entertainment it is right up their with the home game VS Red Deer and pretty much the same thing happened minus the Overtime.

The biggest lead Saskatoon held was a 5-3 lead in the 3rd period, that was quickly erased though.

The Blades were out-shot by a hungry Moose Jaw team.

A penalty in the overtime is what gave Saskatoon the advantage. Brayden Schenn made the Warriors pay with a successful shot that beat the Moose Jaw goaltender on his second attempt.

The Blades now inch closer to breaking more records and move 2 more points up on Red Deer.

The Blades play host to Prince Albert on friday night.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Schenn-Sational Shut-out win!!!!!

The Blades faced off against a Lethbridge Hurricanes team that is fighting for there playoff lives.

The Blades played another good game 60 minute effort. It looked like David VS Goliath.

Saskatoon scored 16 seconds into the game, setting the tone for the Blades. The score after 1 period was 3-0 Saskatoon.

Both Brayden Schenn and Marek Viedensky put on a stick handling/dangle clinic. It was really fun to watch.

The rest of the scoring was done in the 2nd period. Teigan Zahn and Nick Tarnasky pushed and shoved so they go to the sin bin for 2 minutes and as soon as they exit the box they both drop the gloves. Speaking of that. Cam Braes and Brayden Schenn had a thing going in the final period and so they fought as well and that got a rise out of the crowd but Braes fed Schenn a good shot that popped his head back.

In the final period Dalton Thrower delivered a check on a Hurricane player and Brody Sutter took exception. Not much of a fight though. At least it was not Lukas Sutter Vs Brody Sutter. Haha

Also in the 3rd period Ryan Olsen was showing why he was picked in the 1st round in 09 with a semi break away but did not score. Pretty good considering that the 4th line obviously does not get a lot of time but with a lead and against a weaker team why not play the young guys.

With this 5-0 win the Blades are the 1st WHL team to clinch a playoff spot. 41-10-2.

The Blades will face an East Division foe the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday night.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Blades Take Down Pats.

Another good game tonight. 15 seconds into the game. two overagers Tegian Zahn and Shane Neigum fought. The Blades fired 3 shots on goal and scored 2 times within the first few minutes of the game. Exit Hewwit, enter Ketlo.

It was 3-0 Blades after 20 minutes. After 2 periods the score was 5-1 for the Blades.

Shane Neigum scored for the Pats to make it a 5-2 game, but Jake Trask countered for the Blades and was set up by none other than Brayden Schenn (who had 4 assists tonight.)

About 5 or 6 minutes after Neigum scored,he and Zahn decided that round #2 would happen. 2 good fights by both.

The Blades are the 1st team to reach 40 wins, are 4 points away from clinching a playoff spot and are undefeated with Brayden Schenn in the line-up.

The Blades will take another team battling for their playoff lives: the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Blades VS Rebels

Wow. If you were one of the brave souls that came to the game. Kudos to you!!!!

The attendance was under 6,000. It is supposed to warm up so hopefully that draws more people tomorrow and Saturday.

In other WHL news Kootenay beat up on Calgary 8-0.

It was a great game and Blades VS Rebels has turned into quite the rivalry!!!!

It was a tight see saw battle all night. This was a complete hockey game. Some good fights, good hits and some good goals as well as some good saves.

The final score was 7-5 for the Blades so that increases the lead again.

The Blades will take on the Regina Pats tomorrow night. Who are also battling for a playoff spot.

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Blades Sweep Broncos.

The Blades continue their winning ways as they win another road game in Swift Current tonight. 3-1 was the final score. Brayden Schenn had 2 points (1 goal and 1 assist) He was also the 2nd star.
The Blades will return home for 3 home games next week. Tuesday VS Red Deer, Wednesday VS Regina and Saturday VS Lethbridge.

Friday, January 28, 2011

Blades Defeat Broncos.

Saskatoon came out stars a shooting,as they developed a lead as large of 5-0 over the visiting Broncos.

There were 4 fights in this game 3 of which were good ones. The Sutter/Derko fight was ok but it looked like the Bronco player had turned a bit. I was sitting in the 2nd deck so that is where I saw it from.

It was kind of weird to see two European players chuck the knuckles but it happened. Stransky VS Nedomlel.

The Broncos scored 3 goals to try and make a game of it but it was too little too late.

6-3 was the final for the Blades. Attendance was ok.

Sadly it does not look like I will be making the trip to Swift Current tomorrow like I had originally planned.

I was able to wear my blue Schenn jersey that I had ordered last game.... Oh oh I gave away my identity. Now people will know who I am. Hehe

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Blades Sweep Alberta

The Blades closed out their 2 game trip with a win 4-3. The Blades had a 2-0 lead but Edmonton hung in their and very well could have taken this game away.

Saskatoon continues to battle in the standings with Red Deer. They defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes. 10-2.

The Blades now play Swift Current in a home and home this weekend. I hope to be able to make the trip up to Swift Current on Saturday.

Another NHL Pre Season Game At The CUC.

http://www.saskatoonblades.com/article/chicago-blackhawks-vs-edmonton-oilers

I am not too sure if I will go.... I hope one Check Spellingday the Maple Leafs will play here. That I would go see.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Blades Double Up On The Hitmen.

It looked like the Blades controlled the game going up 6-1 after 2 periods. They were two much for the Hitmen to handle, Schenn now has 3 points in 2 games so far.

The final score was 8-4 for the Blades. Saskatoon will now travel to Edmonton to face the Oil Kings tomorrow night and luckily I will be able to listen to this game on 92.9 The Bull.

Lorne Molleken has 499 career wins as a WHL Coach and is now 1 more away from 500!!!!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Blades Defeat Hitmen Schenn's Debut!!!!

Tonight was Brayden Schenn's Blades debut and there was all kinds of focus on that. The Blades played a weak 1st period allowing the Hitmen to score 1st.

The Blades controlled the game from that point on. The Hitmen played well in the 1st period.

Adding Brayden Schenn now adds depth and two good lines.

I think that once Brayden plays a few more games we may see the point totals for the 1st line go up but if not that is ok too. It never hurts to have a deep team and not have the pressure focused on one player or line.

The final score was 5-1 for the Blades.

It is such a pleasure to watch Schenn play. Saskatoon gets what Brandon had for 3 years. 1 game and I am already enjoying it.

That being said I am having Schenn's name put on the back of my jersey. I have only seen 1 other person do it so far.

Saskatoon will travel to Calgary and play the Hitmen on Tuesday and then play in Edmonton against the Oil Kings on Wednesday.

Here it is Brayden Schenn's 1st picture in a Blades uniform:

Blades Lose To Broncos

After Steven Stanford was given the start last night, Adam Morrison started tonight. The Broncos took a lead and never looked back.

In the 2nd period Teigan Zahn was hit(I think after the whistle) by Jordan Peddle and Zahn did not like it too much. So those two chucked some knuckles.

The score was 3-1 going into the 3rd period when Darian Dziurzynski potted his 22nd goal of the season. I missed all but 5 minutes or so of the 3rd because I was in line to get Brayden Schenn's autograph. That was my highlight of the night.

The broncos win 3-2. The Blades get a much needed week off. So Dalton Thrower and Brayden Schenn should be in the line-up next Saturday at home against the Calgary Hitmen.

Hopefully Schenn does not have writers cramp from signing so many autographs haha.

Friday, January 14, 2011

Blades Defeat Broncos.

The Blades jumped out to a early lead and developed a 3-0 lead through 2 periods. The Blades sat back and let the Broncos score 2 goals and make the score 3-2. That was as close as the home team Broncos would get.

Teigan Zahn fought Christian Magnus and Zahn's jersey was torn so he wore #55 for the remainder of the game.

5-2 was the score for the visiting Blades. The Rematch goes tomorrow night at the CUC, where Brayden Schenn will be signing autographs.

Darren Dietz's goal VS Prince Albert was #4 in the WHL plays of the week. Watch it on the WHL website.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Blades Lose In Regina

Saskatoon out shot the Pats tonight 62-32. Regina's goalie Matt Hewitt stood on his head.

The Blades were trailing 3-2 but then tied up the game. The Blades lost 4-3 in a shoot out. Saskatoon is still 7 points up on the Kootenay Ice.

Lukas Sutter had himself a 2 point night.

Saskatoon will visit Swift Current on Friday night.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Schenn-Sational Shoot-out win!!!!!

Brayden Schenn was in the building tonight and the crowd knew that. Ok on to the game. The Blades jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second period but the Wheaties battled back and scored 3 goals in the 3rd and almost won the game with a 4th.

There was 2 tilts in this game. Darian Dziurzynski took on Michael Ferland. I think it was the 1st punch that Dziurzynski threw that did the damage.

Brent Benson danced with Paul Ciarelli. It was a good fight. Draw.

Adam Morrison entered the game with about 10 minutes left. The game went to a shoot-out.

Jake Trask scored the only goal for the Blades.

The Blades travel to Regina take on the Pats. Brayden Schenn will most likely play on the 22nd Vs the Hitmen or 28th Vs the Broncos.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Brayden Schenn Coming home!!!!!

The Blades have landed the biggest fish in WHL trading pool. GET READY SASKATOON for a deep playoff run!!!!!

The Blades acquired Brayden Schenn and a 3rd round draft pick in 2012. They gave up:
four draft picks: 1st Round in 2011, 2nd Round in 2011, 1st Round in 2012 and 1st Round in 2012 Import Draft. The Blades also included in the trade two prospects: Ayrton Nikkel (Pursuit of Excellence M-AAA) and Tim McGauley (Regina M-AAA).

The Blades gave up 6 for 1. Hopefully the attendance will increase. Nobody should have ANY excuses not to go see a Blades game now.

They will probably give him a couple of weeks to rest his shoulder. So a home debut is TBA.

In another trade the Blades re-acquired Tanner Sohn a 19 year old defencemen from the Vancouver Giants ,for a 2013 10th round draft pick.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Cody Eakin Traded To Kootenay. Blades MUST Do Something!!!!!

Cody Eakin was dealt for Christian Magnus, listed players Ryan Bloom, Jarett Zentner, Colby Cave and Steven Myland along with a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2011 and a 3rd round pick in 2012.

Eakin returned the Broncos 5 players and 3 draft picks,so Brayden Schenn will net a similar return (I would think)

I am not too sure the Blades will go for Schenn now, they do have depth but that is a lot of players to give up for a player who is currently injured.

I will be working tomorrow so I will rely on other people to send me trade info to my phone haha or just wait until I get home.

I hope the Blades do something or I personally will not be happy.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Saskatoon Punnishes PA.

The Blades outshot the Raiders 50-26. The Blades lead 3-0 after 40 minutes and had a 5 goal lead too. The final score was 5-1 for the Blades.

Marek Viedensky fought? WOW.........

If the Blades and Raiders some how meet in the 1st round, that would be a fun series.

Trade deadline is on Monday. The Blades host the Wheat Kings on Tuesday. Will Brayden Schenn remain a Wheat King or will he end up elsewhere?? I smell a deal coming somewhere.

Canada Lose To Russia. Schenn Headed Home??

Team Canada had a 3-0 lead and they sat back. Russia scored 3 goals to tie the game and they won the game 5-3. Silver for Canada again this year.

Brayden Schenn has been playing with a Separated shoulder, and this has some people saying that the Blades will not trade for him because of that. I still think that Schenn may be coming home. 2 players and 1 or 2 draft picks is probably what it will cost. Is that too much?

Blades Man Handle Hitmen.1st WHL Team To Win 30!!!!

First off a little bit of stats for you. The Blades are now 17-1-1 on home ice. Tonight's game was the 250th of Stefan Elliott's career and he also registered his 200th point.

The Blades did all of the scoring. Adam Morrison stopped all 29 shots that he faced. It was a chippy game tonight. Dalton Thrower fought Ben Wilson. No real good shots were landed until about the very end more of a wrestling match. At the end Thrower was chirping in the box. That is what some hockey players do.

The Blades were handed some unlucky bounces. Braden Johnson blocks his own team mates shot. Marek Viedensky fell awkwardly into the boards.

Duncan Siemens is the TOTAL PACKAGE....everyone already knows that. in the final period he took on Carter Berg and he annoyed Berg enough so that he would drop the gloves. He also fed Berg with some good punches too. I am not sure what cut Berg open... visor to the face or a punch.....

The final score was 5-0.

The Blades have a record of 30-9-1. They will travel to Prince Albert on Friday to play the Raiders.
