This blog was created because I am a Saskatoon Blades Season Ticket Holder and I use it now to write down my thoughts and opinions about the Saskatoon Blades.
Duncan Siemens went to the Colorado Avalanche 11th overall. Matej Stransky was drafted by the Dallas Stars,Darren Dietz went the Montreal Canadiens and Darian Dzuirzynski was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes. Brent Benson was not picked. Hopefully he earns a camp invite with one team.
The Blades traded with the Prince George Cougars and selected Russian goaltender Andre Makarov. Here is an article written about him.
Brayden Schenn along with teammate Wayne Simmonds was traded from LA to Philly for Mike Richards and a 2nd round draft pick.
The NHL Entry Draft in tomorrow and Saturday in Minnesota. Duncan Siemens is a sure pick,Brent Benson,Matej Stransky and Darren Dietz also could be selected.
I think it could be very possible but if this does happen, where will the Manitoba Moose go? Will it be Saskatoon? If that were to happen the Blades would have to go somewhere else. Also how will it effect Brandon Wheat Kings attendance?
The quest for the 2011 Memorial Cup starts tomorrow in Mississauga Ontario.
Yes I am still renewing my season tickets and did so today. Let me just add,the playoff credit is awesome. Low and behold BraydenSchenn was down there at the exact same time that I was,he was busy though. No I did not strike up a conversation with him. Just left him alone. Maybe he will be in the 4 on 4 play on road hockey tournament later on in June? That would be cool if both he and Luke were in the celebrity game...
Oh and just in case you missed it the Kootenay Ice are off to the Memorial Cup!! Go Ice Go!!!
It is looks like this series will be a good one because the first game was fast and had some good goals. Both teams traded 1 goal leads and took the game into overtime. Ty Rattie scored the winner for Portland.
The Blades picked 7 forwards,4 defencemen and 1 goalie. 2 were from B.C,3 were from Alberta,6 were from Saskatchewan, they selected 1 player from Manitoba and they did not select any players from the United States.
Hopefully the scouting staff did a good job because not having a 1st or 2nd round pick hurts the restocking process and trading away last years top picks as well.
Portland won game 6 of their series with Spokane,so the two teams that made big trades meet in the WHL Finals. Portland landing Craig Cunningham and the Kootenay Ice landed Cody Eakin.
I think I will cheer for the Ice seeing as the Blades played them and that they are an Eastern Conference team. On the other hand I would like to see Portland do well because Brad Ross (a Leaf prospect) plays for Portland.
Hopefully I will be able to see some games on Shaw.
