Phoenix Coyotes To the Bridge City??

I do not usually buy the newspaper but the front page caught my attention and rightfully so because I am a hockey fan and any thought of NHL games being played here is a good thing. Now we just have to wait and see if this plan actually works out to possibly play 5 regular season games at NHL sized Credit Union Centre. Of course there will be people that believe that bringing the Coyotes to Saskatoon would not work and maybe this is true and I probably would not want that because I do not think that Saskatoon could handle 2 hockey teams. I would much rather see the Blades stay here and have NHL games come to Saskatoon.

Leafs Trade/Blades Defenceman is signed by an NHL Team

The Leafs have acquired Wayne Primeau from Calgary as well as Calgary's 2nd round pick in the 2011 draft in exchange for Colin Stuart, Anton Stralman and Toronto's 7th round pick in 2012. This deal kind of makes sense but it has not really sunk in yet. The player that the Leafs got has played in the NHL and I am sure that Stuart and Stralman have as well, but the Leafs are just adding toughness, grit and sandpaper to the lineup, they are going to need to add talented forwards who can score, that may be next though. I will say that I like this deal for now,but I will wait until the season starts and I actually see the Leafs, then I will say more about it then. Good deal for now.

Blades News:

Sam Klassen has been attracting NHL attention and now he has been signed by the New York Rangers....good for him . I guess this cuts him out of the Blades 20 year old plans so I think the Blades are down to just 3 realistic possibilities for 20 year old players. His deal is a 3 year entry level contract. old news......... surprisingly Burke Gallimore did not get drafted but he was offered a tryout with the Buffalo Sabres.

Both the Leafs and Blades websites have the full press releases & details about both of these stories.

One of My Dreams would come true............

If I was able to see a Live Leafs game in any one of our beautiful Canadian NHL cites but obviously Edmonton or Calgary because they are closer to Saskatoon. I already know the chances of getting NHL tickets in Toronto are slim to none,so again this dream may have to wait but I would be so happy if it where to happen this up and coming hockey season.

Leafs Sign ANOTHER Swedish Player.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed a swedish forward today and his name is Rickard Wallin. He as well as Gustavsson gets a 1 year contract. Wallin was originally drafted by Pheonix in the 6th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Now the joke from leaf fans everywhere is that another minor league affiliate should be set up in Sweden because that is where most of thier prospects are coming from right now. I think this is another good signing, no real risk here but I think that Brian Burke may be a bit of a risk taker and that is ok.

Leafs Sign "The Monster"

Yes Brian Burke has suceeded at luring Jonas Gustavsson to Toronto and to sign a one year deal with the Maple Leafs. This move makes the goaltending situation more crowded because as far as I know Vesa Toskala is still in the Leafs plans. This also depends if Gustavsson can succeed in North America and in the NHL. I think this is a good signing for the Leafs. Only time will tell.

Day One NHL Free Agent Frenzy

Alot of big name players have changed addresses and the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Colton Orr to a 4 year contract, they also signed Mike Komisarek as well. The Boys in Blue also traded Pavel Kubina and Tim Stapleton to the Atlanta Thrashers for former Blade Defencemen Garnet Exlby and Colin Stuart. We will see what happens next. I hope the Leafs are not done yet.
