Holy Comeback Batman!!!!!!!!

Wow what a game!! The Warrriors led the game 1-0 almost the entire game but with less than 10 minutes to go the Blades tied the game.

Both Marek Viedensky and Brent Benson did not play. The Blades are thin at the Center position, Dalton Thrower a defencemen took a faceoff tonight,no I am not joking!!!

Overtime solved nothing but there were good chances both ways.

Both Jake Trask and Brayden Schenn were stopped by Thomas Heemskerk but Curtis Hamilton skated in and let a shot go that found the back of the net.

Saskatoon has 98 points and they have 9 games left,so they can hopefully break the record of 105.

With this win the Blades are a step closer to locking up the Eastern Conference title.

The Blades will face the Oil Kings in Edmonton on Wednesday and play Kootenay and Moose Jaw friday and Saturday at home.

TIme for me to go to bed. I am tired from todays trip to Moose Jaw. Definitely a unique rink and sitting so close to the glass adds to that feeling.

Blades Lose To Wheat Kings

This game was another game where I thought that the Blades did not play a full 60 minutes. Saskatoon started strong but in the 2nd period they were not working and it showed as Brandon found themselves back in the game after erasing a 4-1 lead.

There is something about the Wheat Kings and the number 7 perhaps that is the average number of goals that they score in a game? They did that tonight in a great comeback that was seen by 6,000 plus and all of those who watched on Shaw tv tonight.

Rookie Ryan Olsen saw 1st line duty tonight and he scored his 8th goal of the season on a nice deflection.

The final score was 7-6 for the Wheat Kings. Hopefully the Blades will have one of (of both) Brent Benson or Marek Viedensky back in the line-up tomorrow in Moose Jaw.

Kelowna sort of did the Blades a favor by defeating the Rebels but the Blades did not get two points so they lose ground in the eastern conference race.

The Blades fan bus is travelling to Moose Jaw for the game tomorrow and yours truly will be there. I am excited for tomorrow no doubt.

Blades Stop Wheaties.

Well Saskatoon's 1st line of Brayden Schenn, Jake Trask and Curtis Hamilton was on fire tonight. The line was in on 6 of the Blades 7 goals. Schenn had a 5 point night.

The Blades were without the services of Brent Benson and Marek Viedensky, and the lines had to be juggled.

Brandon was dangerous on the powerplay. The Blades must work to limit the penalties that they take.

2 fights in this game. Dalton Thrower fought Jens Meilleur and I think he got the best of him earning the takedown and landing some solid shots.

Maple Leafs prospect Josh Nicholls laid a big hit on Paul Ciarelli and the two wanted to drop em and they did partially until Nicholls lost his balance trying to throw punches or prepare to but the referees broke the fight up prematurely.

The Blades did their part in getting two points but Red Deer beat Kootenay 5-4 in a shoot-out.

The Blades and Wheat Kings will do battle again on friday night at the Credit Union Centre.

Blades Lose To Medicine Hat.

The Blades did all of their scoring in the 1st period. The Tigers took over from there. The final score was 5-2,the Tigers finally beat the Blades.
I think it is safe to say that the Blades will finish 1st in the East Division.

The Blades will now regroup and get set to face Brandon at home on Wednesday night and on Friday night as well.

Blades Win In Cranbrook.

Well I am sure that this game was circled on a lot of calenders for 2 reasons: The reunion of 3 World Junior teammates and two of the better teams in the WHL going to battle.

As for how the reunion went: Schenn 3 points. Eakin and Hamilton were held pointless.

The Blades got out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the 2nd period. Kootenay tried to comeback with 2 goals of their own but Saskatoon just put the game away with 1 more goal plus an empty netter by Jake Trask.

I wonder if Adam Morrison will get the start tomorrow VS the Tigers?

5-3 final score.

Blades Still Going Strong.

The Blades split games with a 7-4 lose to Brandon in Westman Place (a tough arena for the Blades this season.)

The next night they rebounded against a good Medicine Hat Tigers team. Saskatoon had a 4-1 lead and decided to sit back,so the game went into overtime. Brayden Schenn scored the winner.

Speaking of him here is an interview that was emailed to me from Aaron Vickers: http://futureconsiderationsdotca.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/the-future-of-hockey-brayden-schenn/

The Blades will face two tough opponents again this weekend with a game against Cody Eakin and the Kootenay Ice. Sunday they travel to the gas city in Medicine Hat,for a rematch.

Blades Defeat Warriors Again.

Saskatoon looked to extend their winning streak to 11 games and they did just that. They went up 3-1 after 20 minutes. Just like on Wednesday the Warriors would not go away. Moose Jaw scored 2 goals to even the score.

The game was tied until late in the game until Marek Viedensky gave the Blades the lead.

Jake Trask put the game away with an empty net goal. Brent Benson was injured in the 1st period, and did not return.

Saskatoon now has 90 points and are ever so closer to breaking the record of 105.

Brayden Schenn and the Blades make a visit to Brandon on Tuesday. Saskatoon's next home game is Wednesday against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Steven Stanford has played 11 straight games,he must be getting tired so hopefully Adam Morrison can come back soon and stay healthy.

Blades Defeat Raiders. Win 10th Straight.

A friday night game and when the Raiders play the Blades is always an entertaining night.

It was a family affair for the Hamilton's as Bruce Hamilton was on hand to help present Lorne Molleken with a picture and a silver stick to honor his 500 WHL win. It was Curtis Hamilton's sister's birthday.

The Blades built up a 2-1 lead after 1 period. Both goals by Brayden Schenn.

Saskatoon continued their strong play with 3 more goals in the 2nd frame. 2 goals by Chris Collins.

The triple threat for the Blades Darian Dziurynski scored his 26th goal of the season to increase the Blades lead.
Josh Nicholls had a 3 point game.

There was 2 fights in this game. Lukas Sutter took on Tyler Yaworski and it was a pretty even fight, maybe give a slight edge to Sutter.

In the other fight: Dalton Thrower fought Antoine Corbin and did VERY WELL. He left Corbin with a bruise or a cut under his left eye.

A very impressive fight for the 17 year old defencemen.

The Blades now continue to lead the WHL with a record of 42-10-2.

There are good video's that can be watched on the Blades website. Go check it out.

The Blades now travel to Moose Jaw for an important rematch against the Warriors on Saturday.

Blades Beat Warriors.

The Warriors entered this game loosing their last 3 games while the Blades are riding a 9 game winning streak (could be 10 after friday)

Just over 2 minutes into the game. Darian Dziurzynski and Cody Beach dropped the gloves. Dzuirzynski is so good with that left jab at the start but he had his hands full with Cody Beach. Give Darian credit he stands in their with the best of them.

In terms of entertainment it is right up their with the home game VS Red Deer and pretty much the same thing happened minus the Overtime.

The biggest lead Saskatoon held was a 5-3 lead in the 3rd period, that was quickly erased though.

The Blades were out-shot by a hungry Moose Jaw team.

A penalty in the overtime is what gave Saskatoon the advantage. Brayden Schenn made the Warriors pay with a successful shot that beat the Moose Jaw goaltender on his second attempt.

The Blades now inch closer to breaking more records and move 2 more points up on Red Deer.

The Blades play host to Prince Albert on friday night.

Schenn-Sational Shut-out win!!!!!

The Blades faced off against a Lethbridge Hurricanes team that is fighting for there playoff lives.

The Blades played another good game 60 minute effort. It looked like David VS Goliath.

Saskatoon scored 16 seconds into the game, setting the tone for the Blades. The score after 1 period was 3-0 Saskatoon.

Both Brayden Schenn and Marek Viedensky put on a stick handling/dangle clinic. It was really fun to watch.

The rest of the scoring was done in the 2nd period. Teigan Zahn and Nick Tarnasky pushed and shoved so they go to the sin bin for 2 minutes and as soon as they exit the box they both drop the gloves. Speaking of that. Cam Braes and Brayden Schenn had a thing going in the final period and so they fought as well and that got a rise out of the crowd but Braes fed Schenn a good shot that popped his head back.

In the final period Dalton Thrower delivered a check on a Hurricane player and Brody Sutter took exception. Not much of a fight though. At least it was not Lukas Sutter Vs Brody Sutter. Haha

Also in the 3rd period Ryan Olsen was showing why he was picked in the 1st round in 09 with a semi break away but did not score. Pretty good considering that the 4th line obviously does not get a lot of time but with a lead and against a weaker team why not play the young guys.

With this 5-0 win the Blades are the 1st WHL team to clinch a playoff spot. 41-10-2.

The Blades will face an East Division foe the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday night.

Blades Take Down Pats.

Another good game tonight. 15 seconds into the game. two overagers Tegian Zahn and Shane Neigum fought. The Blades fired 3 shots on goal and scored 2 times within the first few minutes of the game. Exit Hewwit, enter Ketlo.

It was 3-0 Blades after 20 minutes. After 2 periods the score was 5-1 for the Blades.

Shane Neigum scored for the Pats to make it a 5-2 game, but Jake Trask countered for the Blades and was set up by none other than Brayden Schenn (who had 4 assists tonight.)

About 5 or 6 minutes after Neigum scored,he and Zahn decided that round #2 would happen. 2 good fights by both.

The Blades are the 1st team to reach 40 wins, are 4 points away from clinching a playoff spot and are undefeated with Brayden Schenn in the line-up.

The Blades will take another team battling for their playoff lives: the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Blades VS Rebels

Wow. If you were one of the brave souls that came to the game. Kudos to you!!!!

The attendance was under 6,000. It is supposed to warm up so hopefully that draws more people tomorrow and Saturday.

In other WHL news Kootenay beat up on Calgary 8-0.

It was a great game and Blades VS Rebels has turned into quite the rivalry!!!!

It was a tight see saw battle all night. This was a complete hockey game. Some good fights, good hits and some good goals as well as some good saves.

The final score was 7-5 for the Blades so that increases the lead again.

The Blades will take on the Regina Pats tomorrow night. Who are also battling for a playoff spot.
