Road Gameday....... Moose Jaw.

( I am sorry if you do not share this sense of humour)

After a 5-2 defeat of the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday night. The Blades play in Moose Jaw against the Warriors who are battling the Blades for 1st spot in the east division.
The Moose Jaw Warriors have an 11-5 record=22 points & their opponent the Saskatoon Blades have a record of 11-3-0-2 good for 24 points.
The Warriors are also coming off of a win 7-3 win over the Broncos (who the Blades will play on Sunday)
Another great match up!!! The result will be posted here late tonight.

Blades Claim 5th Straight Home Win Over Edmonton.

The Blades did not let the result of the last game at the CUC between these two teams get them down, that last result was an Oil Kings win.

Dalton Thrower and the suspended Randy McNaught did not play.

With that being said the bridge city bunch played in front of Steven Stanford tonight. The Oil Kings played in front of veteran Torrie Jung. The Blades took a 3-0 lead before the Oil Kings managed to score one goal which was supplied by the European connection of Robin Soudek and Tomas Vincour.

Darian Dzuirzynski did all of the dirty work. (A.K.A fighting) he also scored a goal to go along with 12 minutes in the sin bin as well as being named 1st star AND being awarded the ICR hit of the game. A pretty good game for someone who is in their draft year.

The game was pretty much a smooth ride for the Blades until the 3rd period with the score 3-1 with about 4 minutes the Oil Kings scored again to bring them within one goal of tying up the game.

The Blades then settled everyone in the building down by scoring 2 more goals.

The Blades 1st line of Derek Hulak,Gaelan Patterson and Walker Wintoneak is ON FIRE!!!!!!!

Lorne Molleken's Blades now have a record of 11-3-0-2.

The 3 stars of the game were a Blades sweep: 1st Star(as mentioned above) Darian Dziurzynski Star #2 Gaelan Patterson and 1st Star was the Captain Derek Hulak.

Now the Blades take their impressive record (which currently boasts a 3 game winning streak) back on the road to the Crushed Can in Moose Jaw for the 1st time tomorrow and re visit the Swift Current Broncos @ the I Plex on Sunday.

Game Day VS Oil Kings.....3 Games in 3 Nights.

The Blades will start a busy weekend tonight when they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings back to Credit Union Centre. These two teams have played each other 2 times winning a game a piece.
After that they will board the bus and head to Moose Jaw for a game against the Warriors.
(a pretty boring looking bus I might add but I wish they would do something to the bus you know like add a logo or design scheme to make it known who is on that bus!!!!)
After the game they will probably high tail it to Swift Current for a rematch with the Broncos on Sunday.
The Blades are still in first place but the Broncos play in Moose Jaw tonight as well. So depending on what goes down in these two match-ups we may still see the Blades in the lead...
They will try and improve their record of 10-3 this weekend.

The Edmonton Oil Kings are in 3rd place in the central division. It is so exciting to watch a good hockey team!!!!!!!!! So get out there and see the game!!!!!
The Blades will be one busy hockey team this weekend and next week.

Elliott & Hamilton To Represent the Blades Again.

Last time it was with team Cananda at the Under 18's and now the duo will be part of the CAN/RUS Subway Super Series which runs from November 16-26th. Although Team WHL will play the Russians on Nov.25th in Victoria and in Kelowna BC on Nov 26th. It is pretty much a homecoming for these two since they are both BC natives.

For the full roster go to the WHL website and check out the roster for both games. Some players will participate in both games but some including Stefan Elliott and Curtis Hamilton will only be part of the game in Kelowna on Nov 26th.

I am sort of stumped as to why Charles Inglis has not been selected for any events like this..... Do the players have to achieve something in order to be selected?

Anyways congrats to all the guys selected to represent team WHL.

Tune into Rogers Sportsnet to watch the games!!!!!!

Blades & Broncos Beware.......

I was thinking about the suspension of Randy McNaught and how some people think the punishment was not harsh enough and I agree. Now the date that McNaught COULD return is: Nov.4th against those same Swift Current Broncos. Should he play I am sure that he will have a HUGE target on his back. I will not be at that game.

Instead I will a playing a game of my own.... a soccer game. I could rush to the hockey game after but it may be too late. I am just glad that I am not missing a team like Kelowna or Chilliwack. Adding soccer into my schedule could mean that I may miss some of the Blades home games, but I could also skip out on a soccer game....a decision that I must make.

That is all the blogging for now.

Blades Torture Tigers

Adam Morrison was given the start and he made some jaw dropping saves too. It did not take the Blades that long to hit the scoreboard and yes I mean score a goal. The score was 2-0 after the 1st period. Former Blade property Tanner Sohn took a delay of game penalty in the first as a result of the Blades strong forecheck.

The Tigers did pressure the Blades early on but having no success in scoring on Adam Morrison. At 14:04 of the second period enter Deven Dubyk....Tyler Bunz made 12 saves on 16 shots. As one would expect with the Tigers loosing the game's physicality picked up and scrums after whistles were almost going to happen. The Blades play a physical game and 2 or 3 Tigers were victims of big hits 2 of which the Blades player caught his target with his head down.

At about the 6 minute mark of the 2nd period Duncan Siemens was looking for a fight and he found a dance partner in Taylor Gal...The taller Siemens had the size advantage but did not land any really big bombs. This guy is the real deal!!!!! One of the other Blades rookies Brent Benson was awarded the Hit Of The Game.... What else can I say about these two? They are 1st rounders and they are obviously talented.

After 2 periods the score was 5-1 for the Blades.

In the final period the Tigers managed to score 2 times. Other than those two goals Adam Morrison with the help of his defencemen were the reason why the Tigers only scored two goals and believe me the Tigers could definitely have made a game of it with their speed.

The Blades played well without Randy McNaught in the line-up besides they have at least a handful of players who are not afraid to get rough in the corners and drop the gloves if need be... If anything let his punishment be a lesson to him.

At the at the 14:36 mark of the 3rd period Darian Dziurzynski laid a punishing hit on a Tiger player who I think had his head down and he stayed down for a couple of seconds but he did go to the bench on his own power. Matt Konan of the Tigers came in and challenged DD to fight and DD stood his ground against Konan.

Near the end of the game is where things could have escalated out of control but the referee kept things under control.

The Blades outshot the Tigers 48-27.

The final score was 7-2 for the Blades.

The Blades have two 16 year old defencemen and this can be a risk but Adam Morrison has been there when a mistake has been made to bail them out and do not get me wrong both of these rookies can play but it is just a matter of becoming better, adjusting to the WHL and learning from the veterans.

The bridge city bunch are now in 1st place in the east division. (they lead the Moose Jaw Warriors by 2 points)

10-3-0-2 is their record right now.

The Blades finish thier 3 game homestand with a game against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday the 30th.

Game Day: Blades Host Tigers

The Blades will try and push their winning streak past 2 games. The Blades are coming off of a 4-1 victory over the Blazers and they have fired their head coach Barry Smith.

The Blades might start Steven Stanford but I would not bank on it.

The Tigers are sitting in 2nd place in the central division. Their last game was against the Oil Kings and they dug their claws in deep winning 7-1.

It should be another good game and the 1st meeting between these two teams this season.

Randy McNaught Suspended by the WHL.

So the hammer comes down.....

On Friday Oct23rd in Swift Current....the Blades were loosing..... McNaught was on the ice...and no he was not out there to score a goal, and he does not have hands of stone either. He elbowed the Bronco's Jordan Evans from behind which gave Evans a concussion.

His suspension is a 5 gamer (but really 6 if you count the next game that he sat out/was scratched.)

The 6'5 220+ pounder was brought in to add some toughness but I am not sure that the Blades coaching staff wanted to see him do something like this and receive a 5 game suspension.

Blades Rebound; Beat Blazers

Whatever was said after yesterdays game and this afternoon worked. After taking a beating from Swift Current last night. The bridge city bunch continued to play really well tonight on home ice

Randy McNaught did not play.

Jyri Niemi did indeed dress and he figured into the scoring too.

Steven Stanford was given the start, and he played almost perfect except for one unlucky bounce behind the Blades net....the boards behind both goals are really unpredictable....I do not know if any other WHL rink has this problem but I have seen it here in Saskatoon on numerous occasions.

Back to the game. Justin Leclerc tended net for the Blazers and he saw a decent amount of frozen rubber from a hungry Blades team. The Blades started the scoring in the 1st period and took a 2-0 lead going into the second.

The Blades played physical yet again,Gaelan Patterson dished out the Hit Of The Game, Darian Dziurzynski was throwing his weight around & managed to involve himself in a scrap. Teigan Zahn had a scrap as well but he really let up because he kind of just flopped Mark Hall around like a fish and held still instead of feeding him fists to the face.

The Blades scored 2 goals on the powerplay so their special teams was clicking.

The Blazers did manage to create a couple of scoring chances but they could not bury more than one. Justin Leclerc faced 49 shots. It must have been sort of difficult for Steven Stanford to keep sharp because he only faced 24 shots and the Blades had possession of the puck for a good majority of this game.

The Blades won the game 4-1.

The 3 stars were a Blades sweep:Star #1 was Walker Wintoneak who contributed 2 points. Star #2 was Stefan Elliott who scored 1 goal. The 3rd Star of the game was Sam Klassen who had a goal and an assist.

This win improves the Blades record t0 9-3.

The Blazers finish their east division road trip with a disappointing 1-5 record.

The next game for the Blades is another home contest on Tuesday Oct.27th against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Blades Blasted By Broncos.

Finally home from Swift Current.

This game was pretty much put out of reach early in the first period when the Broncos scored 3 goals in the 1st frame with 13 Shots fired Adam Morrison's way.

In the 2nd period the Broncos fired 16 shots on goal and scoring once making the score 4-0 for the home side. The game became more physical as and the Blades brought this dimension in a big and possibly bad way at about the 9 minute mark of this period Randy McNaught layed an elbow from behind to the head of Jordan Evans of the Broncos (the league will no doubt be reviewing this situation) and most likely suspending McNaught. Speaking of suspensions Travis Toomey had to sit this game out because of his hit from behind to Matt Strueby of the Pats on Wednesday night.

After the 2nd period the score was Broncos 4 Blades 0

Jyri Niemi was hurt in the 2nd period, he did attempt to return but he did not, he is doubtful for tonight's game against the Kamloops Blazers.

In the 3rd period the Blades came to play & showed signs of improvement, they scored 2 goals.

Cody Eakin of the Broncos scored 2 shorthanded goals and 1 more even strength marker to earn a hat trick,Broncos goalie and Vancouver Canuck prospect Morgan Clark played well only allowing 2 goals on 39 shots. Meanwhile his counterpart Adam Morrison allowed 6 goals on 40 shots.

The 3 stars were a Bronco sweep across the board. 1st star: Cody Eakin 2nd Star: Morgan Clark 3rd Star: Brody Luhning

The Broncos now finish off the weekend with home and home set with the Regina Pats, meanwhile the Blades try and start another streak against the Kamloops Blazers tonight.

The fans in Swift treated us well and chated with us too.

There was one person who I was excited to meet and glad I was able to meet him: Ernie Waldner, great guy and his passion for hockey and Swift Current is great to see. He also writes a blog called:Waldner's World. I will gladly make the trip up to Swift Current agian and watch more games.

Blades Visit Broncos

After an exciting 4-3 triumph over the Regina Pats on Wednesday night the Blades are back on the road and headed to Swift Current (I will be as well) Yes that is right yours truly will be at the game to take it all in tonight.

This will be the 1st game of the season for these 2 teams.... Swift Current defeated the Kamloops Blazers in their last home game.... Steven Stanford should get the start tonight.

Enjoy your day everyone. I know I will.

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Off to Swift Current I Go.

The trip to Speedy Creek is going to happen tomorrow,I have been to the Credit Union I Plex but that was before the renovations took place, last time was with the Blades Booster Club and this time I am going with a friend. It should be a good game.... It will be nice to see the Blades play away from the CUC for once... We may be the only Blades fans there,we shall see.

Blades Win a Close One!!!! Extend Winning Streak to 6 games....

Adam Morrison and Damien Ketlo were given the starts in between the pipes tonight.

The Pats opened up the scoring, but the Blades replied with a goal of their own. Making the score 1-1 after 1 period. Charles Inglis dropped the gloves with Graham Hood of the Pats,I think Inglis won that battle. In the 2nd period Teigan Zahn threw a questionable hit on a Regina player, and Colton Tuebert did not like it so they had a decent fight,I think this one was a draw though.

Hampus Gustafsson had an off night, maybe playing against his former team gave him a case of the nerves but hopefully he does find his game though. Travis Toomey was given a checking from behind 4 minute penalty for a hit that he threw on Matt Strueby of the Pats who left the game.

The shots were 14 for the Blades and 12 for the Pats.

In the 2nd period the Blades increased the lead by scoring 2 goals there was also one more fight Brandon Davidson took on Darian Dziurzynski, both combatants landed some punches, I would call this fight a draw too but DD took an unsportsmanlike penalty. As per usual the referee made some questionable calls. The shots in that period were 15-8 for the home side.

The score after 2 was: Blades 3 Pats 2.

The Blades scored in the final period to regain a 2 goal cushion but the Pats came back to make a game of it.

Jordan Eberle was almost a Blade killer but Sam Klassen stopped what would have been the game tying goal. Jordan Eberle was also awarded a penalty shot but Adam Morrison did not let him score.

The final shot count was 36-31 for the Blades...the final score was 4-3 for the Blades who have now won 6 straight games!!!

The three stars were: Stefan Elliott,Jordan Eberle & Travis Toomey.

The Attendance was 4,044 (kinda low considering the record of the team right now.) I know it is a weekday too.

Saturday's game should draw a good crowd when the Kamloops Blazers continue their East Division Road trip in which they have a record of 1-3 so far with games in Prince Albert and Saskatoon to finish off with....The best team was saved for last...

I am hoping to be able to take in the Blades VS Broncos game on Friday....Ride still unknown at this point... I should know by tomorrow though.

Game Day Blades VS Pats

The Blades had 2 full days between their next game which is tomorrow. While the Pats made the trip to PA and they suffered a 3-2 loss in overtime against the Raiders,so no doubt they will be looking to get a win against a pretty hot Blades team as of late.

I am pretty sure that we are going to see another great game tomorrow night, both teams have some very skilled hockey players.

I will be attending my first regular season road game on Friday in Swift Current.... I am excited to see what the arena looks like after renovations. Did I mention that I love road trips? Well now you all know that: I LOVE ROAD TRIPS!!!!!

Blades Sweep Alberta!!!!! Streak Now At 5-0.

The Blades defeated the Oil Kings to the tune of 4-0 and obviously played very well on this road trip taking down Red Deer and Lethbridge last weekend, then knocking out Calgary and Edmonton this weekend. Hopefully this can continue. Steven Stanford recorded his 1st shutout as a Saskatoon Blade against the Oil Kings.
The Blades next game is on Wednesday Oct.21st @ the CUC against Jordan Eberle & company. (Yes the Regina Pats)
I am excited to watch Jordan Eberle,Colton Teubert, and Jordan Weal play(If they all dress) Yes they are on the Pats but are top notch players with huge upside.
See you in the padded seats in section S on Wednesday night!!!!! The return of Hampus Gustafsson will probably happen.

6-2-0-2 Blades looking to get revenge on Oil Kings

The last time these two teams played each other, the Blades were on the loosing end,and the rematch is set for tomorrow afternoon. The RED HOT Blades look to cause havoc on the Oil Kings.

More than likely Steven Stanford will get the start in goal, even though Adam Morrison played well. I think he deserves a rest.

I think that the Blades victory against the Hitmen pushes the Blades into 2nd place in the east division for the time being.

The Blades next home game is on Wednesday Oct.21st against Hampus Gustafsson and the Queen City's Regina Pats.

Enough blogging for now.... I must go play NHL 10 on my Xbox 360!!!!!!!

Add Image

WOW..... I was not expecting that!!!!! Blades 4 Game Winning Streak.

The Blades really took it to the Hitmen tonight they had a 5-0 lead at one point and it sounded like they really shut the Hitmen down all game long.

Rookie Brent Benson scored his 1st WHL goal,Randy McNaught assisted on the goal.

Adam Morrison deserves alot of credit...I bet alot of fans probably did not expect to see him play this well.... Guess what? He has played really well!!!!!!!!

Walker Wintoneak was awarded a penalty shot in the 3rd period but he was denied.

The Three Stars: Curtis Hamilton,Dalton Thrower and Adam Morrison.

The final score was 5-1 for the Road Warrior Blades.

As a loyal Blades fan and Season Ticket Holder right now I am absolutely LOVING THIS!!!!!!!

Road Gameday....... In Calgary

Tonight the bridge city bunch take on the 7-2 Calgary Hitmen...The Blades are 5-2 and riding 3 game winning streak. Tough opponent for the Blades tonight.

Charles Inglis is in the line-up.

Listen to 92.9 The Bull or watch the game on WHL WEB TV.

The Blades finish their road trip tomorrow against the Oil Kings....In Oil Country of course.

Former Blades Import Gustafsson: NOW A REGINA PAT!!!!!!!!!

I hoped that he would end up in the WHL again but I am not so sure I wanted to see him join the Pats who are a divisional rival of the Blades.

The Blades parted with Hampus Gustafsson weeks ago and now the Regina Pats cut loose Michal Poletin and added the former Blade Gustafsson to their squad. This will be interesting probably really interesting. I think he may dress against the Blades on Wednesday the 21st when the Pats play the Blades at the CUC.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Jersey Theme Night

Yes the Blades do them every year since probably a couple of years ago.

On November 7th against the Prince Albert Raiders they will be sporting jerseys made in honour of those who served and currently are involved with the Armed Forces and Emergency Service Personnel.

if you want to see what they look like just visit the Blades website.

The Blades will finish their 4 game Alberta road trip with a game against the Hitmen in Calgary on Saturday night and finish with a game against the Oil Kings in Edmonton on Sunday afternoon.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Milan Kytnar Dealt to the Giants

He was traded for a 3rd round bantam pick in 2010...GREAT return for both him and Langkow. So it looks as if the Blades will only carry 1 Import and three 20 year olds: Captain Derek Hulak,Walker Wintoneak, and Sam Klassen. I wish the Blades could call Hampus Gustafsson back now......ha ha

I think that the Blades still may try and trade for another impact European player.

Saturday, October 10, 2009

Comeback By Blades is successful....Win in Overtime.

The Blades went 2-0 in their first part of their Alberta road trip, the Blades did not score the first goal in this game either.... Jyri Niemi scored the O.T winner giving the Blades the 3-2 victory.

Walker Wintoneak has been hot as of late scoring 11 points in 7 games so far this season. The Blades have really only 4 days to narrow down the 20 year old situation...this is probably the toughest decision Lorne Molleken will have to make all season long....

The Blades are starting too look like a scary team to play against, and that is a good sign. If only they could attract the same size of crowds that were at the NYI NHL preseason games. I guess the people of Saskatoon just do not know that WHL hockey is still good hockey and relatively cheap.

The Blades next games are in Calgary and Edmonton next Saturday and Sunday respectively. On Thursday a choice must be made. Will it be Kytnar,Hulak,Wintoneak,or Klassen that is given their walking papers? Stay tuned right here for the details......

On the Injury front Charles Inglis will apparently play next weekend...... Milan Kytnar is still healing from an upper body injury.

The Blades record is now @ 5-2-0-2 good for 12 points and 1st place in the east division, where they belong...for now.

Friday, October 9, 2009

The Blades double the score on the Rebels.

The Blades had the lead after the 2nd period and they just kept on playing hockey and never lost the lead. Steven Stanford started his 1st game as a Saskatoon Blade and did what was asked of him:stop pucks and lead the team to a W.

Duncan Siemens found his way back into the line-up tonight.... That is good news.

The Final score was 6-3 for the Blades.

Tomorrow night is a date with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, and you can probably expect veteran goaltender Linden Rowat an Alberta product to start the game for the Canes. I am sure since Stanford started against the Rebels, Adam Morrison will be issued the start between the pipes for the Blades....
The Blades record improves yet again to 4-2-0-2 good for 10 points and tied with Swift Current for first place in the east division, I am sure fellow hockey blogger Ernie Waldner will have something to say about that... haha.

Friday Road Gameday.......

The bridge city bunch are settling in Alberta for the weekend...Tomorrow it is a tilt against the Rebels, and Saturday it is a game against the Kyle Beach-less Hurricanes.

The Blades will get their first look at 16 year old Ryan Nugent Hopkins.

The Blades are coming off of a 8-4 win over the Kootenay Ice Wednesday night, now they look to take that success on the road for four games, and continue at that level of competitiveness.

As far as I still know Milan Kytnar,Duncan Siemens and Charles Inglis are still healing injuries.

Meanwhile the Red Deer Rebels are in 4th place in the Central Division with a record of 3-5.

It should be a good game....

Blades Break The Ice.

In this game last night the Blades offence was scoring in bunches, 2 goals on the first two shots of the game!!!!!!!!!! Ice goalie Todd Matthews had a very short night. In fact the Blades had a 6-0 lead at one point before the Ice started scoring again......

There were also alot of fights....something you would expect in a game against the Pats or Raiders, but the against the Ice? Yes there were 4 fights and newly acquired tough guy Randy McNaught fought and McNaught won with ease. 16 year old rookie Dalton Thrower lived up to his name sake he was the "Thrower" of a big hit,and he also dropped the gloves after with Matt Fraser and did fairly well. Jyri Niemi also joined the fighting and took on Kevin King. Another Blades rookie Brent Benson came to a Tyler Kizuik's defence and fought Jesse Ismond, but he did not do so well...he was handed (what looked like a decent size cut in the nose area.)Although Benson did get fixed up and return to the game. I bet that Lorne Molleken loves what he is seeing out of Brent Benson.

The shots after the first period were 14-10 in favor of the Blades and the score after the 1st frame was 5-0 for the Blades.

The score after the 2nd period was 7-3 for the home team, the shots were 25-24 for the Blades.

Each team scored once more making the final score 8-4. But the shot totals were dead even at 31 a piece.

The 3 stars were: Derek Hulak,Brock Montgomery of the Ice and Jyri Niemi.

The attendance was down because this game was on Shaw.....3,560.

The Blades now take a 3-2-0-2 record on the road to Alberta for 4 games this weekend and next.

The team's next home action is on October 21st against the Regina Pats....may we see a McNaught VS Tuebert fight?? Jordan Eberle will most likely be in the Pats line-up barring injury.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Game Day Blades VS Ice

This will be home game #3 for the Brigde city bunch and yes it is confirmed(on the Blades website that Randy McNaught will be in the Blades line-up. He will wear #18 for the Blades.

Who will start in goal is another burning question, because with the addition of Steven Stanford, that possibly gives the Blades 2 starting goaltenders, but a solid duo is forsure.
The Blades will look to snap out of a 3 game loosing streak tonight, the Kootenay Ice lost to the Raiders last night.
Milan Kytnar will be an injured scratch for tonight.
Is anyone else excited to see the new look Blades?? I know I am am!!

Blades and Bruins Swap Players.

Yet another trade has surfaced and this time it involves the Blades and the Chilliwack Bruins. The Blades recieve 19 year old forward Randy McNaught (6"5 221lbs) who is a tough sandpaper type of player.
The Blades sent 17 year old Jamie Crooks (5"10 186lbs) and a conditional draft pick to the Bruins. The Blades are sure doing alot of wheeling and dealing, but are not settled yet.
I am hoping that the newly acquired McNaught will be in the line-up for tomorrow night's game but that may not happen...there will most likely be details in tomorrow's Star Phoenix.
More information tomorrow.

Blades Trade with Raiders...... Injuries

The team has acquired goaltender Steven Stanford from Prince Albert along with a 6th round selection in the 2011 bantam draft and the Raiders receive two defencemen Brendan Wall, Tyler Yaworski and a 4th round pick in the 2011 draft..

People are already saying the Blades were ripped off,but hold the phone...Stanford is good insurance if Morrison becomes injured, the Blades send 2 defencemen to a team where they will see ice-time...the Blades have enough rearguards as is now. I guess this means Chris Sharkey will be demoted...too bad because it looked like he worked VERY hard to stick with the Blades.

Now this has me thinking will Steven Stanford start on wednesday night?

On the injury front two 16 year old defencemen are out....Duncan Siemens with a neck injury and Dalton Thrower has the flu... Also Charles Inglis is expected to be ready to go by mid October, according to the sports section in today's Star Phoenix.

What Is Happening??

Can someone please tell me what has happened to the Blades team that we saw in the pre-season? I know it is not really a fair comparison, but c'mon......

The Wheat Kings are no slouch of an opponent either, they are in the hot seat.....hot hot hot.

They shut out the Blades 3-0 tonight, it was not all Adam Morrison's fault.

Alan Caldwell who has his own blog:Small Thoughts At Large(link can be seen on the left hand side under:My Blog List) and he predicts that the Blades will be 1A/2 in the east division but if this is going to happen the Blades have to start winning. I hope the Blades can decide on the 3 twenty year olds soon because this may be a small distraction, but it is obviously not an easy choice. The Blades still have 4.

I am hoping that Charles Inglis is close to returning because the Blades could use him.

The Blades record is now 2-3-0-2. The Blades return to the CUC on Wednesday night where they will play the Kootenay Ice,and Saskatoon product Jeremy Boyer will make his debut on home ice.

More thoughts later.....

Blades loose to Raiders in a Shoot-Out.....

I was able to listen to the last part of the 2nd period and the 1st 5 minutes or so of the final frame. The game was all tied up at that point 1-1. Overtime solved nothing......So the two teams went into a shoot-0ut. The Blades needed Burke Gallimore to score to keep the Blades alive but his attempt was unsuccessful.

The Raiders squeaked by the Blades 2-1.

Chris Sharkey is probably wanting to start a game sooner or later. We shall see if it does happen maybe he will have the chance to start one at the CUC.
The Blades next action is Saturday in Brandon...the game should be a good one.
The Blades record now stands at 2-1-0-2 good for 5 points and tied with the Wheat Kings for 1st in the east division.
One fun fact here: The Lethbridge Hurricanes are the highest penalized team in the league right now with 187 minutes in penalties. The Blades have 69 minutes in the sin bin and the least penalized team right now is the Everett Silvertips who only have 45 minutes in penalties

Goodbye Gustafsson...... & Friday Gameday at PA.....

The team officially released Hampus Gustafsson today,I was thinking to myself that maybe the Blades will pick him again in the import draft next season but he would be 19 then. He seemed like he had the tools to succeed in the WHL. It could happen because the Blades may be forced to select 2 new players from the dare I say it...."crap shoot" of a draft,(that is if you do not do your homework on the player you want to select)

With this move the Blades have a 24 man roster (yeah I do not think there are any girls or women on the team haha) 14 forwards 8 defencemen and 2 goalies.

The Blades have about just under 2 weeks to solve the overage situation..... A couple more games/practices to evaluate should do the trick. Newcomer to the team Jeremy Boyer will most likely see his first game action as a Blade. Just wait until he plays at the CUC.....his heart should be racing then....

I should be able to catch bits and pieces of the game on my personal radio at work tomorrow night.
