Blades Fall to Eberle and the Pats......

The Regina Pats have had the Blades' number as of late...shutting out the bridge city bunch 3-0 in a previous match up and this game... Lets say the Blades had their glimpses of offence but were dare I say: Outmatched? by the Pats.

Jordan Eberle pretty much controlled the game....every time he touched the puck something positive happened.

The game was a close game though. The Blades just had trouble taking advantage of powerplay chances.

Adam Morrison played a good game tonight.

Again Lukas Sutter impressed me tonight. I think he will make the team as a 16 year old rookie next season. He is also good on faceoffs. Not afraid to mix it up either...to me he does not look like a 15 year old,but maybe a 1 year veteran of the WHL in the way he plays, his hockey sense is decent and I think the Blades found a good one in him!!!!!!

Stefan Elliott: WOW was he ever on his game tonight!!!! He was awarded 2nd star and Hardest Working Player. He also notched a goal and an assist tonight. I hope he comes back to the Blades next year because the way he is progressing right now and if he had a good camp next fall in Colorado. He could possibly be a 6th or 7th defencemen their..... I still think he will be in a Blades uniform next season but I am just tossing that out there.

Darian Dzuirzynski was awarded the Hit of the Game. Which is no surprise cause he loves to dish out hits.

There was a fight or something close too it, but Josh Nicholls was not really a willing participant because he was just ducking and trying to avoid getting punched. Carter Ashton was the agresser in this battle.

The Blades lost this game 3-2 but gave it their all....

Regina has played well at the CUC this season and even though the Pats are only playing for pride they did a damn fine job!!!!

2 games left for the Blades a home and home against the Raiders this weekend.

I also picked up my playoff tickets tonight and signed up for the booster club 1st round playoff road trip....where that still has not been determined yet... I am hoping for Red Deer or Moose Jaw.

I can not wait to watch the Blades on the road again!!!!!!!!!

I watched the 3rd period with a buddy who I play soccer with and he is an Oilers fan so he was their to see Eberle and he left happy but he still was cheering for the Blades too. haha.

(I still can not believe that the Oilers and Flames made a trade) It is a crazy world I tell you.

A 2nd straight East Division Bannner looks less and less posible with Brandon beating Moose Jaw 8-2 tonight.

That is all for now. I'm out!!!!!!!

Blades Wash Away Warriors......

Steven Stanford got the start tonight and he was SOLID... if it was not for him the Warriors probably would have won this game.

I was able to see Lukas Sutter for the 1st time and let me say this he may be physically big and strong enough to play in the WHL because he is already 6'0 199lbs. That is an impressive size for a kid his age but he is a Sutter and the Sutter's take their hockey very seriously.

The Warriors were taking it to the Blades for the 1st part of the game but in the 2nd and 3rd periods the bridge city bunch came out and started to play like a team.

One fight in the game... Sam Klassen fought Dallas Ehrhardt and I think Erhardt must have landed a punch and it sent Klassen down,I am not 100% sure how he got the cut on his face....some people around me said he hit his head on the ice... Not sure how much truth there is too that but he was back out there once he received stitches.

The Blades powered their way back into the game scoring 2 goals to give them life again.

I was hoping to see Darren Dietz play but maybe tomorrow against Regina he will dress.

I hope Lorne Molleken keep Sutter in the line-up because I thought he played well.

The final score was 4-2.

Somehow Darian Dzuirzynski was awarded both Hardest Working Player and Hit of the Game. He did get a goal to so that does help his case.

As I mentioned in my post earlier today the Pats are in town for one final battle tomorrow.... It should be a good one.

The Blades are only 1 point back of Brandon right now and Brandon plays Moose Jaw tomorrow.

A fight to the end it will be!!!!

Blades Gameday VS Warriors..... Gogol Suspended for 3 games. 3 Home Games Left Before The Playoffs!!!!!!!

I am just reading now that Curt Gogol was suspended for an "attack" on the Hitmen's Zak Stebner. I guess we will have to wait until the playoffs to see him again. He may be used sparing ly though.

With that being said, the Blades being one of the tougher teams to play against...they will have to be careful AND NOT TAKE STUPID PENALTIES!!!!!!!!!

The Blades are still battling it out with the Brandon Wheat Kings for 1st in the Eastern Division and 2nd spot in the conference as well.

Only 3 points separates the two teams. There still can be movement in the standings because some teams have as many as 4 games left.

This will be the first game that Blades fans will be able to see Lukas Sutter, and Darren Dietz. (if they play) The chances are good that we will be able to see them strut their stuff.

If the playoffs started today Saskatoon would play Red Deer...If this happens I would be very excited to travel to Red Deer.

There are 5 teams that the Blades could face...Kootenay,Red Deer,Medicine Hat,Moose Jaw and Swift Current.

In order for the Blades to face Medicine Hat, the Tigers would have to drop 2 spots..I do not think that is going to happen..you never know. hahaha

In order for the Blades to face Kootenay in the 1st round the Rebels and would have to trade places. This is very much a possibility because only 3 points separates the two teams... If I were the Blades I would not want to face Kootenay but anything can happen in the second season.

In order for the Blades to play the Warriors they would have to take over 2nd place. Somewhat of a stretch but it could be done.. I would LOVE to see games in the Crushed Can because oddly enough I have never seen a hockey game in Moose Jaw.

Swift Current would have to some impressive standings climbing in order to face the Blades in the first round.

Whoever the Blades are matched with in the 1st round will give them a challenge.

Just a reminder again the Blades play the Warriors tonight at the CUC and for the last time Blades fans will be able to see Jordan Eberle in a Pats jersey on Wednesday night!!!!!!!!!!!

The Blades once again close out the season with a home and home against the Prince Albert Raiders.

Here is my question to you.... Who would you want the Blades to battle in the 1st round of the 2010 WHL Playoffs?

As for me? I do not really care but I would prefer a team whose arena I have not seen a game in yet.

Blades Fall Apart VS HItmen.

I said I was going to watch this game but I work early tomorrow and why watch the game when the Blades got controlled or had no chance?

The Hitmen powerplay won them the game .

The score was 6-1.

A friend sent me a text message and said the magic number is 2.... two Blades losses or 2 Brandon wins would mean the Blades would face the Swift Current Broncos in the 1st round. I think that is how it would match up? Swift Current does not have use of the Credit Union I Plex because of the Womens Curling event that occupies the facility. So where will the Broncos play their "home games" ? Regina? or Lethbridge? I would be in favor of Regina because it is obviously closer to Saskatoon but I just want to see some Blades playoff games on the road. Do not get me wrong I would travel to Lethbridge to see 2 games as well.

The Blades face Moose Jaw on Tuesday night and will have 2 home games after that...Regina on the 10th and Prince Albert on the 12th.

Blades Make A Comeback. Defeat Oil Kings.

The Blades fell behind 3-0. Steven Stanford got the boot after 2 goals. I bet that most of the people listening to the game or watching it on WHL Web TV did not think that the Blades would come back. The powerplay tonight for the Blades was clicking with 3 powerplay goals.

6-4 was the final score...this win sets the Blades up for a tilt tomorrow against the Calgary Hitmen. It also erases a 2 game loosing streak.

I will probably be able to catch some of the 3rd period on tv...or I may just rewatch the game at Midnight.

Blades Enter Oil Country.

I knew Jyri Niemi was injured but I didnt know that he broke his finger until now. one 15 year old will play for the Blades tonight. Lucas Sutter as well as 16 year old blueliner Darren Dietz.

Some positive news for the Blades is that they do not have to play against Tomas Vincour, as he was traded to Vancouver at the trade deadline.

Hopefully the Blades can gain some points this weekend because Brandon just does not want to lose.

Enjoy the game.

Blades Whipped By Wheat Kings.

I have had a long exhausting past two days and as a result I fell asleep numerous times while watching this game. I only saw Gaelan Patterson's goal.

The battle was a close one and I can not really comment much, but the final score was 5-3 for the Wheat Kings, and now the Blades trail Brandon by one point but they still have 1 game in hand I think.

Some good news to report!!! Curt Gogol played tonight. The Blades have called up Lucas Sutter, and Darren Dietz to join Levi Bews as the call-ups for the rest of the season.

The Blades now travel into Alberta for dates against the Oil Kings &
Hitmen (This game will be televised on Rogers Sportsnet on Sunday)
What do you think? Will the Blades reach 100 points?
